Wealth Technology, Head of Intelligent Marketing & Personalization Platforms, Director
Citi
We are seeking a visionary and deeply technical leader to serve as the Director and Head of Intelligent Marketing & Personalization Platforms. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for architecting and executing the next generation of marketing technology (MarTech) and AI-driven personalization for Citi Wealth Management. You will own the strategy and delivery of a hybrid ecosystem, blending best-in-class external tools with sophisticated, custom-built internal platforms.
The ideal candidate is a true "player-coach" with a rare combination of skills. You are a MarTech expert with hands-on experience in enterprise platforms like Adobe's Customer Data Platform, but also a seasoned engineer who has built bespoke AI-powered tools like "next best action" engines from the ground up. With a strong architectural mindset and deep domain knowledge in Wealth Management, you will lead the charge in using technology and AI to create hyper-personalized experiences for our clients and empower our marketing teams with intelligent tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- MarTech & AI Strategy: Define and own the strategic vision and technical roadmap for marketing and personalization technology, ensuring alignment with the goals of the Wealth Management business.
- Platform Architecture: Architect a cohesive and scalable MarTech ecosystem that seamlessly integrates external SaaS platforms (e.g., Adobe Customer Data Platform) with proprietary, internally developed applications and data stores.
- Next Best Action Engine: Lead the architecture, development, and continuous enhancement of our in-house Next Best Action (NBA) engine. This includes overseeing the creation and deployment of sophisticated propensity models to drive intelligent, timely recommendations.
- Hands-On Technical Leadership: Act as the senior technical authority and a hands-on leader for the team. Guide the development of custom applications, lead the integration of complex platforms, and provide expert-level guidance on both MarTech configuration and AI model development.
- AI-Powered Personalization: Champion and implement advanced AI/ML techniques to accelerate marketing efforts. Drive initiatives in hyper-personalization, dynamic content optimization, intelligent audience segmentation, and journey orchestration.
- Workflow & Application Development: Oversee the design and development of associated workflows and applications that connect marketing insights to tangible actions within the advisor and client-facing channels.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Build strong, collaborative relationships with senior leaders in Marketing, Data & Analytics, and Product Management to translate strategic business needs into a robust and effective technology execution plan.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in technology, with at least 7-10 years in a senior role focused on Marketing Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Wealth Management domain, including the client lifecycle, advisor workflows, and marketing/sales funnels.
- MarTech Expertise: Hands-on, expert-level experience architecting and implementing major marketing technology platforms, with specific, demonstrable experience with Customer Data Platforms (e.g., Adobe Customer Data Platform, Segment, Tealium).
- Custom Development & AI:
- Proven, hands-on experience architecting and building in-house marketing decisioning systems, with specific experience developing Next Best Action (NBA) engines.
- Deep familiarity and practical experience with the underlying propensity modeling and machine learning techniques required for such systems.
- Demonstrable experience applying AI/ML to solve concrete marketing challenges.
- Architectural & Engineering Acumen:
- A strong architectural mindset with a proven track record of designing and integrating complex, large-scale, hybrid (cloud/on-prem) systems.
- Significant hands-on application development experience (e.g., Python, Java) and a deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
- Experience designing and implementing business workflows and automation is a significant plus.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of engineers and data scientists. Ability to influence across a matrixed organization and communicate a compelling technical vision to senior executives.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA is a strong plus.
