The Business Manager role is part of the Europe Markets Projects and Regulatory Engagement team to support the Europe Markets franchise, including Citigroup Global Markets Europe (CGME) and Citigroup Europe PLC (CEP). The Business Manager role is part of the Markets Europe Business Execution organization responsible to ensure the business operates safely and support the business strategy. The successful candidate will be based in Paris and report to the Head of Europe Markets Projects and Regulatory Engagement.

Managing a diverse set of projects, regulatory engagement and non-routine activities for Europe Markets is a key part of the role. Responsibilities include leading external audits and interactions with regulators and external auditors as well as a wide range of internal stakeholders from the Markets businesses to Functions partners and the Regulatory Liaison Office.

What you will do:

  • Provide leadership and promote ties across businesses, regions, and support functions to ensure and manage stakeholder engagement across legal entities and franchise

  • Manage and deliver on strategic or regulatory driven projects (including remediation work) and non-routine activities to enhance and optimize product offering, client experience, revenues, expenses, capital usage, risk, European legal entity booking model and processes

  • Lead and coordinate external exams from auditors and regulators, including on-site visits

  • Coordinate and produce responses to RFIs with stakeholders from the businesses and functions as appropriate

  • Assess and challenge progress on an ongoing basis to ensure successful and timely delivery and escalate as appropriate any execution/delivery risk – no surprise approach

  • Assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting issues and concerns with transparency

  • Facilitate Senior Management engagement in the decision-making process where appropriate

  • Prepare presentations and Senior Management updates on regular basis and ad-hoc when appropriate or requested

  • Represent the Europe Markets franchise in relevant working groups, forums and committees

What we'll need from you:

  • Well-organised problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and ability to think long term/big-picture

  • Willingness to challenge status quo and bring new ideas to the table

  • Understanding of and an interest in Financial Markets

  • Experience in managing projects and change initiatives preferred

  • Experience in audit or regulatory engagement preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or relevant experience

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to assess, simplify, prioritize and escalate appropriately

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate globally across diverse groups

  • Ability to work independently in a cross-border environment

  • Good understanding of financial markets, finance/accounting, risks is a plus

  • German speaker is a positive
