Job Summary

The Vice President, Global Network Banker is a senior coverage banker within Citi's Global Network Banking team, based in either Geneva or Zurich, Switzerland. This role is focused on managing and growing Citi's relationships with multinational corporations and their affiliates across Citi's global network, with a strong emphasis on identifying business opportunities, deepening client engagement, and driving revenue growth within the Swiss market. The role will cover a hybrid portfolio of Regional Account Management (RAM) and Subsidiary Account Management (SAM) clients, requiring the ability to operate seamlessly across both parent-level regional mandates and in-country subsidiary relationships within the same coverage framework. Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, the VP Global Network Banker works closely with product partners and banking teams to deliver sophisticated solutions fully aligned with client objectives and Citi's global strategy.

In addition to managing existing client relationships, this role carries a clear responsibility to develop a deep understanding of the local Swiss market and new foreign direct investment trends, actively growing Citi's market share by identifying and acquiring new regional buying centers of global multinational clients operating in — or establishing operations in — Switzerland. The successful candidate will promote and deliver the full breadth of the One Citi platform across Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, and Wealth, ensuring clients benefit from the complete range of Citi's capabilities.

Switzerland's dual financial centres present a uniquely rich and diverse coverage environment. Geneva's positioning as a global hub for commodities and trading houses, international organisations, pharmaceutical and life sciences multinationals, luxury goods conglomerates, and regional headquarter functions, combined with Zurich's status as Switzerland's leading financial and corporate centre — home to major financial institutions, technology firms, industrial multinationals, and global professional services groups — makes this one of Citi's most commercially distinctive and strategically important coverage markets in Europe. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the Swiss corporate banking landscape across both cities, a strong track record in coverage banking and origination across complex, multi-product client relationships, and the commercial acuity to position Citi as the core banking partner for Switzerland's leading multinational corporations and their global affiliates. Fluency in English is essential; French and/or German proficiency is strongly advantageous depending on the base location.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Relationship Management & Coverage

  • Build and nurture trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders from local and regional buying centers across Switzerland — whether based in Geneva or Zurich — including corporate treasury, trading, finance, and C-suite functions, providing high-value market insights, strategic dialogue, and high-quality engagement at senior executive level.

  • Manage a hybrid portfolio of RAM and SAM clients, engaging effectively across both regional parent-level mandates and local subsidiary relationships — adapting coverage approach, solution design, and stakeholder engagement to the specific needs and decision-making structures of each client type.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of each client's business model, corporate strategy, and financial wallet — encompassing the distinctive characteristics of Geneva-based commodity trading houses, international organisations, and regional headquarters, as well as Zurich-based financial services firms, industrial multinationals, and technology groups — to proactively identify and pursue high-value revenue opportunities.

  • Maintain high-level engagement and strategic dialogue across the Swiss portfolio to position Citi as the core banking partner of choice, deepening wallet penetration and expanding the breadth of Citi's solutions deployed across the client base.

  • Lead with a strong origination mindset — identifying, structuring, and executing top revenue wallet opportunities with commercial precision and discipline across the full Swiss client portfolio.

  • Leverage Citi's global network to provide clients with seamless cross-border banking capabilities, positioning Switzerland as a key European and global corridor hub for commodity flows, treasury centres, and multinational financing structures.

2. Origination, Coverage & New Client Acquisition

  • Drive wallet share growth across a hybrid portfolio of Swiss multinational clients — spanning both RAM and SAM relationships across Geneva and Zurich — by identifying and converting opportunities across products, geographies, and business lines within Citi's global network.

  • Lead with tailored banking solutions aligned to Swiss market dynamics and location-specific sector insights — including commodities and trading, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, luxury goods, financial services, technology, and international organisations — while aligning closely with each client's global parent strategy and treasury objectives.

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the local Swiss market across both financial centres, emerging foreign direct investment trends, and new multinational entrants — proactively identifying and acquiring new regional buying centers of global multinational clients operating in Switzerland or in the process of establishing operations in the country, thereby growing Citi's GNB market share locally.

  • Actively pursue new client acquisition opportunities across Switzerland, accelerating the onboarding and conversion of net new revenue to grow the GNB franchise in one of Europe's most internationally connected and commercially significant markets.

  • Manage the local client pipeline effectively and collaborate with in-country and regional Product Specialists across Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), Markets, Trade Finance, Commodities Finance, and FX to deliver comprehensive, integrated, and sophisticated banking solutions.

  • Promote and deliver the entire One Citi platform — spanning Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, and Wealth — ensuring clients have full access to Citi's breadth of capabilities and that cross-business opportunities are identified and executed seamlessly.

  • Act as a key point of connectivity between Citi's global account management framework (RAMs/PAMs/SAMs) and local client relationships across Switzerland, ensuring seamless coordination and a consistent, world-class client experience across the global network.

3. Strategy & Credit

  • Align account activities with strategic initiatives, including comprehensive client planning, wallet sizing, corridor plays, and Switzerland or EMEA product-specific business development campaigns.

  • Partner with product specialists and senior banking colleagues to design and implement sophisticated, multi-product solutions — including liquidity management structures, multi-currency cash management, commodity-linked financing, cross-border trade finance, and supply chain solutions — tailored to the complex and often bespoke needs of Swiss-based multinationals across both Geneva and Zurich.

  • Maintain strong credit acumen with deep knowledge of complex, multi-jurisdictional credit structures; lead the coordination of regional credit requests within the Swiss portfolio, including cases where standalone credit approval processes may be required, ensuring robust credit governance and timely resolution.

  • Actively contribute to the assessment, structuring, and management of client credit needs — including an awareness of the unique credit considerations associated with commodity trading exposures, multi-currency balance sheets, and complex cross-border holding structures prevalent across the Swiss market.

  • Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the Swiss regulatory environment, including FINMA (Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority) requirements, the Swiss Banking Act (Bankengesetz), and applicable EU and international frameworks governing corporate banking, AML/KYC compliance, and cross-border banking activity.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in corporate or commercial banking, with a demonstrated track record in coverage banking, relationship management, and origination across complex, multi-product client portfolios; experience managing both RAM and SAM client relationships is strongly preferred; prior experience within Switzerland or the broader Western European corporate banking market is strongly preferred; familiarity with the Swiss market — including commodity trading, international organisations, financial services, multinational treasury structures, or life sciences — across Geneva and/or Zurich is a distinct and significant advantage.

  • Client & Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of Swiss multinational clients across both Geneva and Zurich, key sector dynamics (commodities, pharmaceuticals, luxury goods, financial services, technology, international organisations), foreign direct investment trends, economic conditions, and the Swiss and EU regulatory and compliance environment, including FINMA requirements and cross-border AML/KYC obligations.

  • Credit Skills: Strong credit understanding and risk assessment capabilities, with the ability to assess, structure, and coordinate sophisticated credit solutions for complex, multinational client portfolios — including commodity-linked financing, multi-currency exposures, cross-border holding structures, and standalone approval scenarios.

  • Product Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of corporate banking products, particularly Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), FX and multi-currency cash management, Markets, Trade Finance, and Commodities Finance; familiarity with the full One Citi platform across Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, and Wealth is highly advantageous.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to navigate and lead complex, multi-product deal teams and engage credibly at senior executive level both internally and externally across a highly sophisticated and internationally diverse client base.

  • Communication: Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills; ability to engage confidently and influence credibly across all levels of an organization — from local treasury and finance teams to global C-suite stakeholders — in a culturally nuanced and multilingual environment.

  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; French is essential for Geneva-based candidates and German is essential for Zurich-based candidates; proficiency in both French and German is strongly advantageous; Italian is a further asset reflecting Switzerland's third national language.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required.

  • A Master's degree (e.g., MBA, MScF, MIM) or professional qualification (e.g., CFA) is strongly preferred; a degree from a Swiss institution (e.g., HEC Lausanne, University of Geneva, HSG St. Gallen, ETH Zürich, University of Zurich) is advantageous.
