Role Summary

We are seeking a strategic, quantitative leader to join the US Consumer Cards In-Business Credit & Franchise Risk Organization. As the Senior Vice President of In-Business Balance Sheet Management & Strategic Business Analytics, your mission will be to build and lead the analytical engine that drives profitable, resilient growth for a multi-billion-dollar credit card portfolio.

You will be responsible for steering USCC business strategies in response to evolving capital and funding dynamics. This is a high-impact role where you will lead a team of quantitative analysts to model the P&L and capital impacts of major strategic decisions, partnering directly with executive leadership to shape the future of the business and optimize for both profitability and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Executive Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of quantitative analysts, fostering a culture of analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and innovation.
  • Serve as the team's expert guide on complex quantitative models, advanced statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Own performance management, talent development, and succession planning for the team.

2. Strategic Financial & Capital Analytics:

  • Financial Framework Design: Architect and own the sophisticated financial models used to project the full P&L and balance sheet impacts of business initiatives under various economic and regulatory scenarios. This includes direct ownership of P&L projections for long-range strategic planning.
  • Scenario & Impact Analysis: Conduct rigorous scenario analysis and sensitivity testing on key drivers (e.g., interest rates, credit losses, new account volume, regulatory capital requirements) to identify and quantify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Strategic Advisory: Translate complex model outputs into a clear, actionable "so-what" for executive leadership. Your team's insights will be critical for decision-making on new products, partnerships, portfolio actions, and other strategic initiatives.

3. Stakeholder Management & Influence:

  • Develop and deliver compelling, data-driven narratives and presentations for senior and executive management, effectively communicating complex quantitative concepts and strategic recommendations.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders across Risk, Finance, and the Business to drive alignment and execution.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal audit and external regulators on matters related to capital, balance sheet, and financial projections

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services or management consulting, with a strong focus on credit risk, capital management, and financial planning.
  • Expert knowledge of consumer banking products (especially Credit Cards), including P&L drivers, risk/return dynamics, and key performance indicators.
  • Deep, practical knowledge of capital and balance sheet management frameworks, including CCAR, CECL, Basel III Endgame, and Recovery & Resolution Planning.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing forecasting models for balance sheet and P&L components.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead quantitative teams and derive actionable insights from complex risk/reward trade-off analysis.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of delivering complex analytical solutions on tight deadlines.

Technical Proficiency:

  • High proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Hands-on experience with, or demonstrated experience leading teams that heavily utilize, statistical programming languages (e.g., SAS, Python, R).
  • Experience leveraging large-scale data platforms (e.g., cloud data warehouses, Hadoop/Spark environments) is highly desirable.

Leadership Competencies

  • A demonstrated history of driving change, managing for results, and solving complex, ambiguous problems.
  • A collaborative work style with the ability to build strong relationships and influence partners across organizational boundaries and hierarchies.
  • Executive presence with consistently clear, concise, and persuasive communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • A forward-thinking leader who can drive innovation while maintaining a detailed, end-to-end view of the business.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering) is required.
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Financial Engineering, Operation Research, Statistics) or an MBA in Finance is strongly preferred.
