Corporate Counsel (Labor & Employment / Risk Management)

The Corporate Counsel for Labor & Employment and Risk Management plays a critical role in managing, resolving, and avoiding employment related disputes. In addition, the Corporate Counsel oversees, manages, and helps to resolve insurance related litigation, including workers compensation, general liability, and auto liability claims. The Corporate Counsel will serve as a member of the Risk Management Team, working closely with Risk Management leadership and outside counsel to effectively address and resolve employment and insurance-related matters. The successful candidate will serve as a partner to leaders across the business, also working with Human Resources where appropriate to handle a range of complex legal issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Clark’s activities in court and arbitration, including litigation and settlement strategies, and managing outside counsel, for employment and various insurance related matters

  • Monitor and advise the company on compliance with all applicable employment rules and regulations

  • Provide legal guidance to corporate leadership on relevant employment issues

  • Provide legal counsel to internal company clients on employment issues

  • Manage internal investigations related to employment issues

  • Provide training to the company on employment and other applicable legal topics

  • Proactively identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate and win the right work

  • Take an active role in recruiting top industry talent to join the Clark team. Identify, hire, and retain outstanding people

  • Exceed our stakeholders’ expectations by anticipating their needs, desires, and goals

Basic Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school

  • Active bar membership

  • Approximately 3 - 5 years of labor and employment law experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
