Position Summary
The Columbia Publishing Course is seeking a creative story-teller to promote brand visibility and internal and external initiatives for the course. The Variable Hour-Digital Content Officer reports to the Assistant Director and Director, with primary responsibilities including supporting the course’s online presence and executing communication tactics. Day-to-day tasks include copywriting, designing simple graphics, managing social media and outreach, staying abreast of publishing industry news and promoting course efforts. The Digital Content Officer may also perform administrative duties as needed. The preferred candidate will be up-to-date with the latest digital technology and social media trends. They should have excellent communication skills, and be able to express the CJS and CPC missions with creativity and care.

Responsibilities
Content Creation
- Develop content ideas for the CPC social media channels and website, and prepare for publication of the content by writing copy, finding photos and creating graphics as needed.
- Identify opportunities to highlight upcoming initiatives.
- Maintain monthly online content calendar in collaboration with the Assistant Director
Social Media Development
- Responsible for CPC’s social presence across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and more, and encourage consistently high levels of traffic and engagement
- Create, curate and schedule social content to drive engagement in collaboration with the Assistant Director
- Explore and execute new social media strategies to grow presence on current social channels and develop new avenues
- Elevate CPC as a thought leader on issues related to current events, research and education as they relate to the publishing industry
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent related experience required.
- Up to 2 years of related experience.
- High degree of understanding of the latest digital technology and social media strategies.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva and all social media platforms.
- Knowledge in measuring impact and conversions for web and social media
- Strong writing and copy-editing skills.
- Prior experience in communications, as writing for multiple platforms is essential for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Google Analytics or similar tools.
- Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO) best practices.
- Experience in higher education or a similar industry.
