Director, HQ Category Strategy

Reporting to the Senior Director, you will lead a headquarters-based team that builds national category strategies to optimize MAPS at all retailers.
Support field based Conagra teams in penetrating key customer decision makers to present category development plans. Collaborate with headquarter Category Strategy, Insights, Analytics and Business Development teams in the development of category plans for assigned customers. Responsible for new item presentation, category business reviews, assortment strategies, and all aspects of shelving products in a category friendly way. Identify opportunities to improve competitive advantage and enhance stature with the customer.
Your Impact:
- Overall: The HQ Category Strategy Director leads a team responsible for developing national category leadership strategies, that in collaboration with Field teams, can be leveraged to grow sales/profits with our retailer partners.
- Collaboration: Work cross functionally with Field Teams, Business Development, Commerce Marketing, Demand Science, and Brand to provide the right resources to implement strategic category plans.
- Field focused: Manage category assortment and shelving plans at a national level, that can then be customized to support retailer specific category strategies. Partner with Field teams to deliver clear insights-driven presentations.
- Analytics forward: Develop tools to diagnose new category opportunities; Leverage data investments/ solutions to provide optimal category recommendations.
- Thought Leadership: Monitor industry trends, shopper behavior shifts, and competitive activity to identify opportunities to improve Conagra's capabilities/ advantage in the market.
- Be an expert on the business- HQ category strategy is our go-to team for department, category, brand, and item level insights. This team utilizes multiple analytical investments, including POS data (Circana, Nielsen, etc.) an Assortment optimization solution, space management software, customer loyalty card data (8451, Walmart Luminate, etc.) and other industry knowledge sources (Kantar, Cleveland Research).
Your Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 7+ years of category leadership or category strategy related experience in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry.
- Strong executive presence and the ability to work cross functionally with multiple functions and organizational levels.
- Experience developing and presenting comprehensive, concise and objective category reviews and selling decks that incorporate shopper, consumer, retailer, syndicated and loyalty data.
- Experience working directly with customers in growing category sales.
- Experience with Nielsen/Circana, customer scanner and loyalty card data, syndicated scan and panel data including geo-demographic and behavioral data, and space management tools.
- Experience mining data to uncover root causes of trends and deliver concise analysis.
- Experience managing/ leading direct reports and cross functional team members
- Project management experience to establish goals, process, roles, timeline and desired outcome.
- Working knowledge of retail merchandising and in-store execution tactics.

Compensation:
Pay Range:$133,000-$197,000The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
