Sr. Process Engineer - New Technology

Reporting to the Principal Process Engineer as the Process Engineer – New Technology, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our manufacturing capabilities by researching, designing, implementing and documenting breakthrough technologies that enhance system performance, improve operational efficiency, and unlock new possibilities. Leveraging emerging technologies from both inside and outside the food industry, you will develop strategic roadmaps for next-generation manufacturing solutions across our different platforms. You’ll also build strong external partnerships with innovative companies and leading universities to accelerate technology adoption and deliver transformative solutions that drive competitive advantage.

Position Responsibilities

Technology Development:

  • Research, evaluate, and implement next-generation technologies for production lines, piping systems, heat transfer, fluid and solids delivery, sanitation, safety and sustainable manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain technology development roadmaps aligned with long-term business strategies for multiple platforms.
  • Evaluate technologies and capabilities to meet medium and long-term benefits.
  • Development of standardized operating procedures (SOPs), documentation, and training materials for legacy and upgraded meal assembly lines across multiple sites.
  • Innovation Leadership:
  • Identify and champion technologies that deliver step-change improvements in efficiency, yield, and sustainability while meeting or exceeding investment hurdles.
  • Build and manage partnerships with external innovators, including early-stage companies and academic institutions.

Project Execution:

  • Lead small-scale projects independently and support factory and OEM experiments.
  • Prepare and present both written and oral technical reports and recommendations to leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, R&D, and IT teams to ensure alignment and successful integration of new technologies.

Operational Excellence:

  • Analyze cost drivers and recommend solutions to improve throughput, reduce raw material losses, and optimize resource utilization.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years in engineering roles, preferably in consumer product manufacturing.
  • Practical experience in Consumer Products, providing engineering leadership and developing new technologies in an FDA or USDA-related manufacturing environment is desired
  • Strong project management skills, including budget oversight
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with green manufacturing and sustainability practices.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and influence outcomes, while building strong external partnerships to drive innovation and alignment.
  • Proficiency in engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software; and familiarity with data analysis and visualization applications like Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or Minitab.
  • This position is located in Omaha, NE/Chicago, IL or select field locations East of Denver CO.
  • Travel requirements up to 50%

Compensation:

Pay Range:$81,000-$118,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
