Electronic Systems Product Engineer

DESCRIPTION
This is an entry-level/early-career professional position focused on tailoring electronic and electrical systems for Cummins products. The role involves translating product requirements into hardware and software technical requirements that control the operation of Cummins' products in various customer applications. The Electronic Systems Product Engineer will configure, tune, and complete comprehensive validation testing of integrated hardware and software systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate electronic application and systems problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend actions, and own problem resolution with guidance from experienced team members.
Apply and support the improvement of electronic application and systems development processes and tools, including system specification, modeling, simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting.
Utilize tools for simulation, calibration, and product life maintenance.
Obtain input from customers, technical teams, manufacturing engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver quality product recommendations.
Make decisions in electronic and electrical system design, requirements, calibration, and testing to impact the quality and performance of components and features.
Own problem resolution for moderately complex components, systems, or services with increasing technical complexity as experience is gained.
Provide independent execution of established work processes and systems, while contributing to the improvement of technologies and processes.
Collaborate with technicians, temporary staff, and teams to ensure efficient and successful completion of projects.
Skills:
Applies Principles of Statistical Methods – Use statistical methods for data analysis, model relationships, and make data-driven decisions.
Cross-Functional Design Integration – Translate requirements into designs and communicate capabilities through design reviews.
Technical Documentation – Document technical knowledge for effective stakeholder communication and knowledge transfer.
Product Development Execution, Monitoring, and Control – Plan, coordinate, and execute product development activities across teams and disciplines.
Design and Application of Open/Closed Loop Controls – Specify and understand feedback controls and system interactions in hardware/software systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience:
Entry-level or early-career professional.
Experience in a relevant technical field, including internships, co-ops, or extracurricular technical activities, is preferred.
Knowledge of MS Office tools is an advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant STEM field is required.
A post-graduate (Master's) degree in a related field may be required for select roles.
