DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Product Design Technician - Level II to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Mineral Point, WI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Enhancing Product Quality : Creating and maintaining high-quality specifications ensures Cummins products meet rigorous standards.

  • Ensuring Precision : Utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing guarantees precise and accurate product specifications.

  • Maintaining Security : Using CAD data management tools, you’ll ensure configuration control and maintain the security of product data.

  • Adhering to Standards : Applying Company, industry, national, and international standards ensures compliance and consistency.

  • Streamlining Processes : By processing internal engineering work requests efficiently, you’ll support smooth project workflows.

  • Collaborating Across Functions : Engaging with various functional areas fosters collaboration and integrate diverse expertise.

  • Upholding Quality Practices : Participation in the maintenance of standards and practices, you will contribute to overall quality assurance.

  • Conducting Quality Reviews : By participating in Drawing Quality Reviews, you’ll help identify and rectify issues, ensuring top-notch product designs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Proficiency in CAD Modeling : Create detailed and accurate CAD models that adhere to Cummins’ standards, enabling effective system-level analyses like Dimensional Variation Analysis and Finite Element Analysis.

  • In-depth Mechanical Systems Knowledge : Develop a thorough understanding of mechanical systems to design innovative and robust concepts that meet both Cummins’ and customer expectations across all lifecycle stages.

  • Specification Creation : Produce comprehensive specifications, including solid models, engineering bills of materials, and detailed drawings, ensuring they meet national, international, industry, and Cummins’ standards.

  • Product Configuration and Change Management : Establish and maintain product baselines, manage changes efficiently from concept to obsolescence, and ensure the integrity of product artifacts.

  • Effective Communication : Develop and deliver clear, multi-mode communications tailored to the needs of different audiences, ensuring everyone involved understands the design intent and requirements.

  • Complex Problem-Solving : Navigate and make sense of complex and sometimes contradictory information to solve problems effectively, ensuring robust and reliable design solutions.

  • Attention to Detail : Ensure precision in all aspects of design and specification to maintain high-quality standards and meet rigorous requirements.

  • Collaboration and Engagement : Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate diverse expertise and ensure that all aspects of the design process are aligned and optimized.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.

Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

  • Participates in the maintenance of standards and practices which ensure quality.

  • Participates in Drawing Quality Reviews.

Compensation:

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
