DESCRIPTION

The Engine Test Cell Technician is responsible for preparing test articles for testing, including initial build and final teardown. This role involves installing instrumentation into test articles per relevant engineering standards and ensuring the validity of test results through proper setup and maintenance of test equipment. Additionally, the technician will deal with suppliers, coordinate material deliveries, and manage calibration and inventory processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and monitor engine tests as per the test plan provided by the project manager.

  • Perform preliminary troubleshooting for test cell and engine issues.

  • Install and remove engines in the test cell and make necessary modifications.

  • Support 24/7 operations.

  • Assemble and disassemble engines as per test requirements.

  • Maintain knowledge of test cell functions and ensure good housekeeping in the work area.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and actively participate in TBWS activities.

  • Implement and adhere to QMS systems.

  • Assist in testing according to established procedures and methodologies.

  • Prepare test articles and associated fixtures, rigs, and equipment for testing.

  • Demonstrate understanding of test equipment functions and their contribution to test result validity.

  • Perform test stand installation, troubleshooting, setups, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

  • Execute in-house and external calibration for measuring equipment (temperature, pressure, PCP, push tubes, smoke meter, fuel measurement units).

  • Manage inventory for equipment and related items.

  • Maintain calibration reports and ensure lab NABL accreditation.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, MSA, and MUA standards.

  • Update calibration plans and work orders, marking them as completed.

  • Share test status updates and data with test requestors, customers, and stakeholders.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance and AMC as per plan.

  • Procure consumables, manage stock, and maintain inventory and equipment calibration status lists.

  • Select appropriate suppliers with the help of the CIP team.

  • Ensure 5S in the lab and provide forecasts for annual operating expenses.

  • Work with lab customers to understand technical measurement requirements.

  • Ensure equipment is adequate, appropriate, and calibrated at specified intervals.

  • Execute finance-related activities on time, including invoice GRR, NPDN closure, and external lab cross-charging.

  • Handle logistics for export and reimport of equipment for calibration services.

  • Document and execute TBWS roles and responsibilities on time.

  • Send equipment for external calibration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Skills and Experience:

  • Good knowledge and experience in engine test cell operations and various parts of engines.

  • Knowledge of AVL – Puma test cells is a great advantage.

  • Good communication and Excel skills.

  • Familiarity with QMS, safety practices, risk assessment preparation, and LOTO.

  • Experience with test operations and engine test bed measuring equipment.

  • Equipment calibration (temperature, pressure, flow) and documentation.

  • Experience working for NABL accreditation.

  • Ability to deal with external suppliers.

  • Preferable: Ariba access for PR PO, CTCI Fims access for LWRF, NPDN raise knowledge, GIEA access, NFA raise knowledge, NFA link access, CIL & CTIPL provision, knowledge of Service ASN, share point access.

  • Requires some work experience and intermediate-level knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

  • Test Setup and Configuration : Interpret test plans to determine optimal test space setup and fabricate required systems.

  • Test Article Build : Assemble test articles according to test requirements, ensuring successful product functional tests.

  • Preventative and Predictive Maintenance : Develop and execute maintenance strategies to drive continuous improvement.

  • Data Quality : Identify, understand, and correct data flaws to support effective information governance.

  • Problem Solving : Use systematic analysis to solve problems and mentor others in effective problem-solving techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education, or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field.

  • Regionally applicable certification or a two-year Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
