We are looking for a talented Product Systems Designer to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins in Saint-Etienne, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Design new components and products with a focus on design-to-cost and design-to-manufacturing principles.

  • Execute components and assembly drawings, ensuring precision and adherence to engineering standards.

  • Perform stack-up tolerance analysis to ensure the accuracy and fit of designed components.

  • Create and manage bills of materials (BOMs) for accurate documentation and procurement processes.

  • Participate in technical reviews with suppliers to ensure design specifications and requirements are met.

  • Conduct simple finite element analysis (FEA) to assess the performance and reliability of components.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including senior-level designers, to support design decision-making, optimize concepts, and communicate design intent effectively.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate STEM field, or equivalent experience, is required.

  • Preferred candidates would have relevant experience working in a design laboratory or technology center environment as a non-exempt employee, temporary student employee (intern, co-op) or an early career professional in a relevant technical discipline area. Knowledge of MS Office and CREO tools is also preferred.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Significant experience in mechanical design, ideally with proficiency in PTC Creo CAD software.

  • Knowledge of ISO functional dimensioning and design practices, with experience in designing casted, forged, and fabricated/welded parts.

  • Previous experience in the vehicle industry, including trucks, buses, or automotive markets.

  • A strong technical curiosity and a "ready to learn" mindset, paired with a rigorous approach to design and problem-solving.
