DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Supplier Quality Engineer - Technical Specialist to join our team specializing in Quality for our Global Quality Department in Guadalajara, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.
This role will be approximately 60% on-site for a defined period, operating in a hybrid work model.
Drive Supplier ExcellenceYou'll elevate supplier capabilities by applying advanced quality tools and standards (Inspection test Plans (ITP), Welding Standards EN 3834, ISO 5817, ASME BPVC ) to ensure zero-defect components, especially for complex products.
Strengthen Cross-Functional CollaborationBy partnering with Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing, you'll align quality goals across departments, ensuring seamless integration of supplier performance into broader business objectives.
Mentor and Coach for Long-Term GrowthYour expertise will help develop both internal and supplier teams, enhancing their soft skills, auditing capabilities, and problem-solving effectiveness.
Lead Strategic Supplier DevelopmentYou'll play a key role in supplier selection and development strategies, ensuring that chosen suppliers meet both current and future technical and quality demands.
Enable Right-First-Time Welding ManufacturingYour consultation will lead the supply chain strategy for weld first time right manufacturing and collaborate with engineering and suppliers for robust design and manufacturing processes that meet engineering and customer requirements from the outset.
Champion Continuous ImprovementBy leading Lean and Six Sigma projects, you'll drive measurable improvements in supplier processes, reducing waste and enhancing quality.
Mitigate Risk Through AuditingYou'll conduct and improve supplier audits, identifying risks early and ensuring readiness and compliance with quality standards.
Resolve Complex Quality IssuesYou'll lead root cause analyses and corrective action plans for challenging supplier quality problems, ensuring sustainable solutions and performance improvements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Deep Technical Expertise in WeldingA strong foundation in welding processes through an official weld engineer, standards such as EN 5817, 9606, 9712, 3834, ASME B31.12 / BPVC Section VIII, ASME IX, and inspection techniques is essential to act as the SME during supplier onboarding and First Article Inspections (FAI).
Develop, maintain and improve the supply chain welding qualification processes.
Audit and Quality Systems KnowledgeProficiency in conducting prefabrication audits, interpreting quality data, and implementing corrective actions will ensure supplier compliance and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration SkillsThe ability to work closely with Engineering on manufacturability and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives, while contributing to welding standards, is key to aligning quality with design intent.
Global Supplier Engagement ExperienceComfort and competence in working with international suppliers of varying technical maturity will help you navigate diverse challenges and drive consistent quality outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject required
Extensive experience in a Manufacturing or Engineering role in the automotive industry, or a similarly regulated industry.
Substantial experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically in pressure vessel and pipe spool manufacturing.
In-depth knowledge of welding standards, including:, ASME Section IX, ISO 9606, ISO 15614, ISO 5817, ISO 3834, ASME B31.12
Strong understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and precision measurement techniques.
Welding engineer through the means of equivalent bachelor's degree or certification through third party organisations such as TWI / AWS.
CSWIP / CWI inspector level 3.
Proven ability to lead supplier welding approval and continuous improvement strategies within the supply chain.
Hands-on experience with weld defect prevention, including: Fit-up control, Interpass temperature management, Consumable handling and storage.
Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to interpret and review technical drawings and welding symbols
