Engine Field Service Technician - Level III

DESCRIPTION
A customer-focused individual contributor responsible for performing complex diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on Cummins engine products and control systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in electrical and electronics systems, CPCB4+/BSIV engines, and ATS systems. The technician will frequently travel to customer sites, manage OEM relationships, and ensure high-quality service delivery with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities Customer & OEM Management
Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and OEMs.
Ensure prompt and efficient attention to customer needs and concerns.
Identify additional service and sales opportunities during site visits.
Provide technical guidance and support to customers and dealership teams.
Technical Diagnostics & Repairs
Perform complex diagnostics, overhauls, and rebuilds on multiple engine products.
Apply specialized tools and follow documented procedures to complete repairs.
Troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems including Cummins controllers and ATS systems.
Escalate unresolved issues to product specialists or supervisors.
Preventive Maintenance & Compliance
Conduct preventive maintenance as per documented schedules and standards.
Ensure compliance with CPCB4+ and BSIV engine requirements.
Maintain service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
Documentation & Reporting
Complete service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality documents.
Document troubleshooting steps and service actions in business systems.
Ensure accurate records for historical tracking and payment processing.
Training & Knowledge Sharing
Coach and develop junior technicians and apprentices.
Share technical knowledge and review repair plans and parts lists.
Complete training aligned with business and skill development needs.
Health, Safety & Environment
Adhere to all HSE policies, procedures, and legislation.
Report any incidents or hazards to site management and supervisors.
Promote a proactive safety culture and participate in safety improvement actions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualifications
Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
Valid local driving permit.
May require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and Experience
Required:
Significant field service experience with engine products.
Expert-level knowledge of electrical and electronics systems.
In-depth understanding of Cummins controllers and ATS systems.
Familiarity with CPCB4+ and BSIV engine models and control systems.
Strong customer and OEM management capabilities.
Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites across various locations.
Preferred:
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to junior technicians.
Exposure to service documentation systems and escalation protocols.
