DESCRIPTION
The General Manager – Intercompany manages a global accounting team responsible for intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and consolidation across multiple entities and currencies. This role ensures the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of intercompany accounting processes while promoting global consistency, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The incumbent acts as a key liaison between Corporate Accounting, Tax, and other Finance teams to ensure seamless intercompany operations and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the accounting team (including supervisors, accountants, and clerks) responsible for maintaining all intercompany transactions and contra accounts.
Implement and maintain global intercompany accounting policies, procedures, and systems in alignment with corporate standards.
Ensure timely execution and reconciliation of intercompany pre-close and post-month-end activities for Corporate and Tax reporting.
Review, analyze, and validate complex intercompany movements, balance confirmations, and deviations; drive issue resolution promptly.
Oversee the accuracy of financial reporting in multiple currencies and ensure correct US$ conversion for global consolidation.
Manage the month-end accounting consolidation and US$ submission process for Cummins entities worldwide.
Lead and support audit activities, ensuring all intercompany documentation and SOx controls are properly maintained.
Promote standardized global accounting practices and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
Serve as an escalation point for complex intercompany or accounting issues; make sound, data-driven decisions.
Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence through process enhancements and quality adoption.
Manage, coach, and develop supervisors and accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and collaboration.
Partner with external service providers (e.g., TCS) to oversee outsourced accounting processes and ensure service quality.
Maintain excellent communication and customer service with all CBS (Cummins Business Services) stakeholders.
Support planning and forecasting processes by providing insights and analytical support to Finance leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical & Professional Skills:
Strong understanding of intercompany processes , including reconciliation, settlement, and reporting.
Solid knowledge of SOx compliance , internal controls , and financial regulations .
Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel .
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet tight deadlines in a global, fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across functions and geographies.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
Professional certifications (CA / CPA / CMA) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in intercompany accounting or global finance operations.
Proven track record managing large teams, including supervisors and indirect reports, in a multinational organization.
Hands-on experience with multi-currency accounting , global consolidation , and US GAAP reporting.
Prior experience working in or managing shared services/global business services (GBS/CBS) environments preferred.
