DESCRIPTION
Leads the planning, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment and systems. Drives process design in compliance with IATF requirements, leads cross-functional teams on equipment and process improvement initiatives, and ensures manufacturing processes meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Process & Equipment Development
Lead project activities for designing and implementing manufacturing processes in alignment with product specifications, safety requirements, and business goals.
Apply advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles to improve equipment capability, process robustness, and overall operational performance.
Lead equipment design, procurement, installation, and commissioning for new or modified manufacturing systems.
Integrate product design and manufacturing equipment requirements to ensure optimal process flow and manufacturability.
Support development and maintenance of manufacturing standards, work instructions, and process documentation.
Continuous Improvement & Optimization
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives related to layout optimization, ergonomics, OEE improvement, Right-First-Time (RFT), and waste reduction.
Utilize digital tools for manufacturing simulations and data-driven decisions to improve process performance.
Drive process improvements on assembly lines and Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) to enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality.
Compliance, Safety & Audit Readiness
Ensure alignment with IATF 16949 process design methodologies and support internal IATF audits.
Promote a strong health and safety culture through active participation in safety initiatives and implementation of ergonomic workplace solutions.
Ensure all implemented processes meet Cummins safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Cross-functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams (CFT) to resolve day-to-day process, equipment, and product challenges.
Communicate effectively with external vendors, internal stakeholders, and business leaders to ensure seamless project execution.
Coach and mentor stakeholders to enhance manufacturing capability and process understanding.
Technical Support & Tooling
Lead tool, fixture, and workstation design to support manufacturing operations.
Provide hands-on support for process validation, problem solving, and troubleshooting equipment issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Education, Licenses & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or a related field; or equivalent experience required.
May require licensing related to export controls or sanctions compliance.

Problem Solving – Uses structured analytical methods to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
Workstation Design – Designs efficient, ergonomic, and safe workstations supporting quality and productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
Intermediate level of relevant work experience in manufacturing engineering, process design, equipment development, assembly engineering, or industrialization.
Hands-on experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and process improvement preferred.
Knowledge & Skills Requirements
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of Process Design Methodology in accordance with IATF 16949 requirements.
Hands-on experience in equipment design, procurement, installation, and commissioning .
Exposure to assembly operations , special purpose machines (SPMs) , and automated production equipment.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and tooling/fixture design.
Understanding of ergonomic design principles, OEE improvement techniques, RFT, and layout optimization.
Knowledge of manufacturing process improvement methodologies.
Quality & Audit Skills
Experience in IATF internal auditing .
Familiarity with problem-solving tools such as root cause analysis, failure analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Leadership & Soft Skills
Strong team player with ability to lead and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
Strong communication skills with ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
Effective project leadership and ability to drive implementation with minimal supervision.
