DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Power Generation Field Service Technician to join our team specializing in Services, Maintenance and Diagnostics for our Parts and Aftermarket Department in Kitwe, Zambia.

Deliver reliable on-site repairs: By diagnosing and completing less complex generator repairs accurately, you’ll minimize downtime and keep customers’ operations running smoothly.

Ensure operational efficiency:Anticipating customer needs and responding promptly will help maintain service excellence and reduce delays.
Maintain product performance: Performing preventative maintenance according to standards will extend equipment life and prevent costly breakdowns.

Drive compliance and accuracy: Completing documentation thoroughly and on time will support warranty claims, quality control, and business reporting.
Promote safety and sustainability: Adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental policies protects people and assets while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Contribute to continuous improvement: Keeping tools and vehicles in top condition and completing required training ensures you stay effective and ready for evolving business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Strong Technical Knowledge:Deep understanding of power generation systems, including switchgear, power system controls, and UPS integration. Familiarity with Cummins and industry standards, plus the ability to interpret service publications and measurements accurately.
Advanced Diagnostic and Troubleshooting Skills:Ability to translate customer complaints into actionable troubleshooting plans. Skilled in using mechanical/electronic tools and diagnostic software to isolate and resolve issues efficiently.
Proficiency with Electronic Service Tools : Knowledge of the full suite of hardware and software tools for service events. Capability to interpret electronic tool outputs and apply them to determine next steps for repair or maintenance.
Effective Documentation and Escalation Practices: Competence in capturing all troubleshooting steps and repair details in business systems for seamless ticket resolution. Knowing when and how to escalate technical issues while balancing timely customer response with thorough investigation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience
Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Current relevant electrical certification
Locally valid driving permit.
Basic level field service work experience
Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with of power generation products
High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience
Customer service experience
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations
