Electronic Systems Product Engineer
Cummins Turbo Technologies
DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Electronic Systems Product Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Seattle, WA.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Translate Product Needs into Technical Solutions You'll bridge the gap between customer/product requirements and technical implementation by converting them into hardware and software specifications that drive product functionality.
Drive System Integration and Validation By configuring and tuning integrated systems, you'll ensure that hardware and software work seamlessly together, delivering reliable performance across diverse customer applications.
Solve Real-World Engineering Challenges You'll investigate system issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions—playing a key role in maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
Support Continuous Improvement Your involvement in refining development processes and tools (like simulation, calibration, and DVP&R) will help enhance efficiency and product robustness.
Collaborate Across Functions Working with cross-functional teams—including manufacturing, suppliers, and technical experts—you’ll contribute to well-informed decisions that shape product outcomes.
Make Design and Calibration Decisions You'll have ownership over decisions that affect the performance and quality of specific features or components, building your technical judgment and impact.
Coordinate Technical Workflows While not managing people directly, you may guide technicians or interns, helping align their work with project goals and timelines.
Grow as a Technical Contributor Through hands-on experience and collaboration, you'll steadily build expertise in key competency areas, becoming a valuable contributor to your team and Cummins’ innovation efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
Strong Technical Foundation in Mechatronics and Controls You’ll need to understand and apply principles of mechatronics systems, including hardware/software integration and open/closed loop controls, to design and optimize Cummins products.
Systems Thinking and Requirements Engineering Success depends on your ability to define system boundaries, translate stakeholder needs into clear, verifiable requirements, and manage those requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
Analytical and Simulation Skills You’ll use modeling, simulation, and statistical methods to predict product behavior, validate performance, and make data-driven decisions that improve reliability and functionality.
Problem Solving and Failure Mode Avoidance You’ll need to proactively identify potential failure modes, troubleshoot issues using structured techniques, and implement robust solutions that protect the customer and enhance product quality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication Working effectively across teams and communicating clearly with diverse stakeholders is essential for integrating designs, resolving issues, and driving product development forward.
Continuous Learning and Adaptability A mindset of self-development, openness to different perspectives, and the ability to make timely, informed decisions will help you grow and thrive in this dynamic, early-career role.
