We are looking for a talented Embedded Software Engineering Technician to join our team specialising in Engineering for our Test Technology department in Huddersfield, United Kingdom.
This is permanent position working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm
Training will be provided by the Test Systems group. Early career or experienced professionals with relevant technical exposure are encouraged to apply.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Develop and maintain computer-based control and automation systems to support product development and evaluation of turbocharger test facilities worldwide.
- Work closely with Electronics Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Instrumentation Technicians and Lab Ops Technicians to fault-find and maintain control systems, ensuring rapid resolution of lab breakdowns.
- Evaluate requirements from component experts and functional specialists, developing and implementing new control and test techniques to meet evolving business needs.
- Support integration of new tests and tools, ensuring compatibility and effectiveness of test cell systems in line with the latest standards.
- Apply coding and testing skills to design, develop and support software products, including writing documentation and executing test procedures.
- Utilise simulators, machine virtualisation and automated test platforms to validate software, preparing test reports with minimal supervision.
- Debug and resolve source code errors, manage configuration systems, and maintain product and problem databases to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate across functions, participate in reviews, audits and improvement projects, and deliver presentations to customers.

Education/Experience:
- Formal training or certification in software testing, automation, or control systems would be beneficial.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Experience in configuring and supporting measurement and control systems.
- Familiarity with Linux and/or Windows OS for test-cell/engine bed Control and Automation systems (such as PUMA/AVL), or coding/scripting ability, is required.
- Background in a test laboratory environment, with awareness of potential hazards.
- Knowledge of mechanical and/or electronic systems is advantageous.
