Job Summary:

Plans, orders, and expedites materials needed in the manufacturing process. Interacts with internal customers and suppliers

Key Responsibilities:

Plans, orders, and expedites materials needed in the manufacturing process. Maintains proactive contact with suppliers to understand order status, packaging problems, and Electronic Data Interchange problems.

Provides information for affected cross-functional areas including shop operations, purchasing, Supplier Quality I, and product engineering.

Develops and maintains spreadsheets and databases to assist with responsibilities; analyzes data; audits pull signals and overall system performance; measures supplier delivery performance.

Implements production scheduling systems; coordinates inventory levels relative to manufacturing capacity and capability; compiles and schedules orders.

Works with supplier to resolve issues regarding procedures, delivery, status updates, pricing, and other matters.

Tracks, evaluates, and maintains evolving data for new product introduction.

Interfaces and communicates with internal customers; directs people to the appropriate resource; researches solutions and responds to email and phone inquiries.

Participates in the development and maintenance of quality procedures; actively participates in self- and team audits and resulting corrective actions. Participates productively as a team member.

Understands the structure of the organization and develops a strong network across departments; draws on network to answer questions, solve problems, and successfully execute responsibilities. Demonstrates confidentiality in execution of all responsibilities. Performs other duties as required, to get the job done.

Travel as required by the work.

We are looking for a talented Direct Materials Associate specializing in Supply Chain Planning to join our team in US, IN, Seymour, at Cummins Industrial Center.

*Responsible for maintaining open order board for Engine Down and service orders

*Communicate with planners for part availability

*Upload orders released for shipment to SILC Open Order Board

*Communicate with customers - providing shipping/tracking information, ETA on current orders

*Assist Indirect Crib Associate as needed

*Microsoft Excel experience is a plus.

​Materials Planning System Utilization - Uses the materials planning system to manage supply and demand plans taking long-term corrective action on exception messages and other alerts based on root cause analysis; occasionally refers to adhoc tools such as Excel, Access, TOAD, OMS, etc. in performing problem solving, while leveraging the materials planning system as the primary tool in day-to-day operations.

​Part Change Control Management - Evaluates and implements engineering change request (obsolescence, supersessions, new part release, etc.) to meet customer delivery requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

​Plan for Every Part (PFEP) - Uses PFEP in planning, designing, and management of systems and processes within a facility to ensure delivery of right part at the right time in the right quantity to the right place, which in turn guarantees smooth operations; applies PFEP principles on the end to end supply chain with particular attention to the relationships between master data management, materials planning parameters, engineered material flows, transport management, and warehouse management.

Master Supply Scheduling - Establishes and maintains a valid Master Production Schedule for a family of products, which meets customer’s expectations and requirements while maximizing operational efficiency; validates procurement scheduling, production scheduling, and replenishment planning are aligned to manufacturing and assembly assets for conversion.

Materials KPI Management - Operates in relation to recent or historical outputs as compared to expectations of the organization to determine next steps to drive improvement; assesses gaps to the supply chain performance against the expectation of achieving target deliverables; interprets KPIs to understand end-customer impact; strategically balances trade-offs to influence one KPI while minimizing the impact to others.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.

Ability to use Excel or other analytical tools.

Experience:
Four year experience/education requirement accomplished through one of the following: Bachelors degree, associates degree and at least two years of relevant experience, or at least four years of relevant experience required.
