Product Operations Principal Engineer

ACCOUNTABILITIES Represents Worldwide Operations from a product perspective. Creates factory strategies and plans for Worldwide Operations based on product plans and roadmaps. Utilizes metrics to improve new production, introduction process and product quality, at launch and throughout life of the program. Ensures Operations achieves Ready to Ship Release and transactions into production/sustaining. Utilizes Program Review Process (PrP)/Phase Gate Process to transition products from definition through to the sustaining phase. Drives action plans and strategies to reduce overall manufacturing transformation cost. Drives quality improvements by risk assessment/mitigation eliminating sources of defects in the design, supplier, new product introduction and manufacturing processes. Drives continuous improvement in PrP process, product manufacturability and flexibility, and operations cycle time and quality. RESPONSIBILITIES Works independently; achieves results with moderate leader supervision; asks for help when needed to insure completion of tasks Initiates root cause on assigned tasks and issues, recognizes problems within a defined processes and expands scope of tasks as needed Identifies and initiates pre- defined corrective actions with moderate guidance Completes multiple tasks in the overall project plan; meets set deadlines; tracks and reports progress of tasks; drives small team or issue to resolution with coaching Seeks advice when unsure about choosing and giving precedence to a course of action; completes projects as directed by leader Accurately processes and interprets basic data; uses solid problem solving approaches in work assignments Participant in core team and informs team members of actions/plans Participant in extended team and informs team members of actions/plans Follows launch schedule template with guidance ID’s simple NUDDs (New, Unique, Different or Difficult) and develops mitigation plans with guidance Follows template to develop FP (Functional Plan) for simple product launches with guidance Follows build guidelines for all engineering and production builds Develops containment plans for simple excursion management Develops GC (Golden Configs) for less complex products with guidance Manages previously created BOM's (Bill of Material) with limited guidance Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays


Product Operations Principal Engineer

The team coordinates all the operational activities that enable products to be introduced and sustained successfully. It’s about making sure there is consistency between production and test environments. It’s about ensuring hardware, software and networking changes are migrated into the production environment in a stable and controlled way. And it’s about creating build processes, coordinating product builds for release into production and setting up configuration specifications for releases.

What you’ll achieve

You will work on a Cross Functional Development Team leading New Product Introductions / Sustaining Product Management for Enterprise products focusing in AI Servers.

Responsibilities

  • Creates factory strategies/plans for Worldwide Operations based on product plans and roadmaps
  • Utilizes metrics to improve new production/process/product quality throughout life of the program
  • Ensures Operations achieves Ready to Ship Release through product development model/process
  • Drives quality improvements by risk assessment/mitigation eliminating sources of defects in the design, supplier and manufacturing processes
  • Communicate to executives on technical root-cause analysis, program status, deliverables and other

Essential Requirements

  • BS in Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering field and 10-12 years in Manufacturing Engineering, or Quality and/or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to drive action plans/strategies to reduce overall manufacturing transformation cost, cycle time and improve quality
  • Effective verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and program/project manage multiple projects / manufacturing related issues
