You will work with engineering, R&D, product management, supply chain and manufacturing teams to improve speed to market, product quality, collaboration, and lifecycle visibility, while helping implement and optimize technology enabled solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Product Development Functional Consultant with strong expertise across the end-to-end product lifecycle to support digital engineering and transformation initiatives. This role emphasizes deep understanding of product development processes, engineering operations, and cross-functional collaboration, with PLM and related technologies serving as key enablers.
Practitioners will participate in product development and engineering transformation working in teams identifying business requirements, functional design, PLM and digital enablement, data governance and delivery.
- Optimize new product development, testing, manufacturing, service and commercialization
- Reduce product complexity by improving reuse and modularity
- Optimize product cost through design for value, strategic sourcing, simplification and manufacturing optimization
- Support implementation and optimization of PLM solutions (e.g., Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Dassault ENOVIA, SAP PLM)
- Support implementation and optimization of ALM solutions (e.g., Siemens Polarion, PTC Codebeamer, Jama Software, AzureDevops, GitLab, Jira, etc.)
- Translate business needs into clear functional requirements and user stories
- Define use cases such as BOM management, engineering change control, requirements management, document management, code management, version control, software lifecycle management, and product configuration
- Support process design, data model design and functional design documents for PLM and ALM capabilities
- Share industry leading practices with client to develop future state solution
- Support design workshop, conference room pilot and testing (SIT/UAT) facilitation
- Collaborate with technical teams on integrations with CAD systems, coding platforms, ERP, and manufacturing systems
- Participate in testing (SIT/UAT), deployment, and post-go-live support
- Support change management, training development, and user adoption
- Contribute to project delivery, timelines, and client communications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Product Design, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in product development, product management, new product introduction, manufacturing operations, product costing, design for value, complexity reduction, product commercialization or software development lifecycle management
- Experience of end-to-end product lifecycle processes (design, release, change, configuration) or application lifecycle management processes
- Experience working in or with engineering/R&D environments
- Ability to travel up to 50%, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PLM or engineering data management systems
- Experience in designing and implementing PLM and ALM processes and data model
- Experience in industries such as Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Consumer (CPG, Footwear/apparel, food and beverage, etc.), Industrial Manufacturing, Life Science or High Tech
- Hands-on exposure to PLM and ALM platforms (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, ENOVIA, SAP PLM)
- Experience in implementing design for value capabilities
- Experience with parametric cost modelling
- Experience in designing complex modular configurable products and systems
- Experience in designing software defined products and systems
- Experience in software development lifecycle optimization
- Experience with rapid prototyping, virtual simulation driven testing and systems engineering
- Experience with AI enabled capabilities to accelerate product development and launch
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $88,600 - $163,100.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
