About the team

Deloitte's AI & Engineering practice helps the world's most regulated and complex organizations put generative AI to work where it matters most - in lines of business where accuracy, auditability, and compliance aren't negotiable. We design, build, and deploy applied AI solutions for clients in financial services, healthcare, government, energy, and life sciences, working at the application layer to turn frontier model capabilities into tools that hold up under real operational and regulatory pressure.

Our solutions are deployed where our clients need them: inside client-controlled environments - secure VPCs, regulated cloud tenants, on-premise infrastructure, and customer-owned accounts. That deployment model is fundamental to how we serve the industries we work with, and it's central to this role.

What will your typical day look like?

Deloitte is hiring a System Architect to join our AI & Engineering team and help us scale the way we deploy and operate AI solutions - both inside our clients' environments and across Deloitte's internal delivery platforms.

You'll sit at the intersection of engineering, delivery, and operations. The work is split across two audiences:

Client-side: Help design and build the deployment tooling that gets Deloitte AI solutions running inside client-controlled VPCs and regulated cloud environments - install, configure, upgrade, observe, audit - with the security defaults and operational defensibility our clients require.

Deloitte internal: Help harden the platforms and SOPs that Deloitte's engineering, DevOps, and delivery teams rely on to ship consistently across engagements - CI/CD, environment management, release flow, observability, incident tooling - so each new client deployment isn't a bespoke effort. This is a mid-junior role with meaningful ownership. The patterns and playbooks for deploying applied AI into regulated client environments are still being written across the industry - Deloitte included. You'll be expected to bring strong fundamentals, ask sharp questions, and work things out where references don't yet exist, with senior architects and engineering leads close by to think alongside you.

What You'll Work On

Partnering with engineering and delivery leads to identify the deployment and operations patterns worth codifying, and shaping them into SOPs that live inside the systems they govern - not in a forgotten wiki or SharePoint folder.Contributing to Deloitte's internal engineering platforms: CI/CD pipelines, environment management, release workflows, observability stacks, incident response tooling - turning manual and bespoke processes into repeatable ones.Helping design and build the deployment tooling that lands Deloitte AI solutions cleanly inside client VPCs and regulated cloud accounts - installation, configuration, upgrade paths, monitoring, logging, audit - with strong defaults around security, compliance, and traceability. Keeping Deloitte's internal stacks and client-side deployment patterns coherent, so we don't drift into divergent worlds held together by tribal knowledge across project teams. Bringing what you learn - about new AI tooling, new deployment patterns, new operational approaches - back into how Deloitte builds and ships. This is part of the job, not a side activity.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone with:

  • A solid foundation in software systems and full-stack development.
  • Formal training, equivalent professional experience, or a portfolio that shows you've built and shipped real systems. We care about substances, not credentials.
  • Working AI fluency.
  • You understand the fundamentals - how LLMs and other generative models work, what they're good at, where they break, how context and tooling shape what they can do.
  • You use AI assistants like Claude and Claude Code as part of how you actually get work done, not as a novelty.
  • We're hiring engineers who already think with these tools, not researchers.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI. The kind where keeping up with the field is something you'd be doing anyway.
  • The pace of change in this space is part of the job; if it energizes you, you'll thrive here.
  • Resourcefulness in unmapped territory.
  • A meaningful share of this work won't have a Stack Overflow answer or a published reference architecture.
  • We're looking for someone who treats that as the interesting part - who can decompose a novel problem, prototype, learn from what breaks, and converge on something durable.
  • A fast, structure learner.
  • New tools, models, and patterns land constantly.
  • You don't need to know everything; you need to get up to speed quickly and stay honest about what you don't know yet.
  • Strong communication.
  • You can write a clear SOP, walk a teammate through a design choice, and push back on an idea - including your own - without ego.
  • Much of the leverage in this role comes from how well your work transfers to other people across Deloitte's delivery teams.

Bonus
Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP); IaC (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation); containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes); CI/CD tooling; exposure to regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, public sector); hands-on experience integrating LLMs or AI tooling into engineering or delivery workflows.

To Apply
Include in your application a short note on something technical you taught yourself recently - what drew you to it, and what you ended up doing with it.
