Overview

As the Non-Financial Risk Management (NFRM) ‘Risk Appetite’ lead, you will interface across a broad range of stakeholders in business and infrastructure functions, to proactively manage the Bank’s risk profile and improve the control environment. You will work in close partnership with global / Group NFR colleagues on the framework component design and execution plan with Group Risk Appetite team.

Key Programs are currently underway to further improve Deutsche Bank’s capabilities in areas like: Risk and Control Assessment and Risk Appetite & Breach Management. These enable the effective risk profiling, monitoring and management of operational risks and are designed to assist Senior Management within the organization to determine whether their operational risks are being managed and controlled adequately.

This role will report into the Americas Head of Americas CCAR, RCA & Risk Appetite Execution Governance and Framework.

What You’ll Do

  • Risk Appetite Setting

    • Lead & coordinate framework component design and execution plan with Group Risk Appetite team

    • Lead the execution of Risk Appetite Statements across 10x Business Units RAS, 3x Americas Legal Entity RAS, requiring active engagement across all our business divisions

    • Perform Business Unit and Legal Entity RAS read-across

    • Perform RAS post implementation review

    • Provide guidance to businesses and present progress update in Business Divisional Execution Fora

    • Lead Quantitative Risk Appetite Loss Allocation Calibration

  • Business Planning

    • Coordination with Enterprise Risk Management and NFRM Coverage to provide risk opinion during quarterly performance reviews and annual business planning

  • Risk Appetite Monitoring

    • Drive and coordinate with NFR Group the design and adoption of the 4-Zone Risk Appetite reporting

    • Overseeing Americas reporting

  • Risk Appetite Presentations

    • Prepare and deliver Risk Appetite presentations to various senior management fora including Business Unit Risk Councils, Americas Non-Financial Risk Council, Management Risk Committee, Deutsche Bank USA and Deutsche Bank TCA joint-Risk Committees, Chief Risk Organization Executive Committee, Risk Type Controller fora and Legal Entity Boards, and the FRB as and when required

  • In addition, you will also be closely aligned and working with colleagues in the Risk & Control Assessment Execution, which covers topics including Risk Identification, Risk Monitoring and Risk Assessment

Skills You’ll Need

  • Extensive relevant experience in Operational Risk Management, preferably in the Financial Services Industry or with a major Consulting Firm

  • Expertise in risk identification / scenario analysis, risk and control assessment techniques, risk appetite, and other operational risk framework elements

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams to execute and embed business-as-usual processes

  • Proven track record of presenting to senior management, internal audit, and regulators

  • Ability to manage and maintain stakeholder relationships across all levels of the organization

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York, NY office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $125,000 to $203,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
