Details of the Division and Team:

The Operations staff will be ensuring timely and accurate processing of trade finance transactions within own area of responsibility for smooth running of Trade Finance at Deutsche Bank AG Tokyo branch.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Support Corporate Banking Business relating to Trade Finance Operations in Japan
  • Take responsibility for processing of Trade Finance deals including Pre / Post trade process, risk and control and regulatory reporting
  • Perform as Product lead / Team lead in Japan Trade Finance Operation, report to Head of Japan operations.
  • Take responsibility for oversiting the team and managing the staff in Trade Finance Operation
  • Setting up the appropriate capacity plan / business plan for running the business stable to maintain the reputation
  • Be accountable for End 2 End process including the tasks being performed by offshare team
  • Be accountable for oversiting the offshore operation’s performance by monitoring the completeness of daily process.
  • Take responsibility for transaction processing including issue management with off-shore operations team and follow-ups to ensure the transaction is completed within SLA,
  • Facing to the regulator if required as local team head
  • Handling walk-in customers in a professional manner,
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including offshore operations team, Product Management, Trade Service, Sale in processing new structured deals and new initiatives of the Bank
  • Comply all internal and external policies/guidelines and requirements of the regulators and to agreed SLAs, KRIs and/or KPIs
  • Identify and escalate any operational, regulatory and other risks to line manager in timely manner; contributes to the development and implementation of mitigation or control solutions
  • Obtain appropriate transactional approval in accordance with the approval procedures.
  • Ensure continuous process efficiency and performance improvement
  • Provide periodic reviews of the of operational processes within own area of responsibility to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and performance
  • Cooperate with IT and project team in implementing operation systems.
  • Challenges and seeks alternative means to reduce cost & mitigate risk
  • Builds best practices organization and operation models to achieve team goals
  • Other basic admin duties
  • Exceptional management/ Internal & External issue management
  • Client facing – providing the client service and managing client issue
  • Take part in new business initiatives and New product approvals/ New transaction approvals.

Your skills and experience:

  • Background and work experience in Operations is desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details are required
  • People management experience (3-5 years)
  • A self –motivated, energetic and able to work independently
  • Confident, and enjoy working in a performance driven culture
  • Good interpersonal skills and a communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Strong desire to learn the current operational flow and how to change the workflow for future in financial industry in transition phase
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills ( Japanese and English)
  • Ability to manage the multi tasks
  • Be willing to continuously invest in self-learning/training to stay abreast of constantly changing industry trends / client requirements and newer products /processes
  • Strong mindset to challenge and re-engineer current processes to meet changing needs of the business.
  • (Preferable) Post Sales service experience preferred
  • (Preferable) Knowledge of Trade Finance product including Letters of Credit, Documentary Collection, Guarantees and Financing Products and cash payment processing, but not mandatory
  • (Preferable) Some knowledge and exposure to digital tools will be useful, e.g. Alteryx, SQL, VBA, Python programming.
  • Educated to University degree level or relevant work experience.
  • Must be native level Japanese, with strong verbal skills and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • A team player who can work effectively with people all at levels, and across all areas, to achieve the goals of the group.
  • Ability to cope well in a changing environment.
  • Self-starter with high energy and flexibility.
