Overview

The Trust & Agency Services business provides Trustee, Calculation Agent, Paying Agent, Tax Agent, Custodian, and Debt Agency services globally for Structured Finance (Mortgage-backed securities/ Asset backed securities/Collateralized Loan Obligations), Global Debt, and Depositary Receipt transactions. The Analytics Tax Group is a highly specialized team that focuses on all aspects of securitization taxation including tax filings. The Analytics Tax Group is responsible for providing tax reporting on residential and commercial mortgage securitizations, and various asset backed collateral. In this role, you will interact with various tax professionals include equity and debt investors, large public accounting firms, outside tax legal counsel, and third-party vendors.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform all tax compliance work pertaining to quarterly (Schedule Qs) and annual tax filing (Form 1066s) for Real Estate Mortgage Investment Conduits and engage with equity and debt investor tax professionals

  • Perform all tax compliance work pertaining to annual Form 1041 (Grantor Trust) tax returns

  • Tax compliance work involves reviewing journal entries, balance sheet and income statement analysis, account reconciliations and confirming equity ownership

  • Interact with various internal teams including Tax Analytics and Modeling/Reporting in setting up tax accounting for new securitization transactions

  • Correspond and communicate with taxing authorities such as Internal Revenue Service and California Franchise Tax Board when notices are received regarding tax fillings

  • Perform tax compliance research pertaining to fixed income reporting requirements including original issue discount and interest income

Skills You’ll Need

  • Numerate and analytical with strong attention to detail

  • Proven skills in Microsoft Excel and Word and exposure to database queries

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proactive mind set and a professional attitude to delivery and client focus

  • Ability to work and think independently, while supporting team goals/objectives

  • Ability to handle multiple and competing projects under tight deadlines; Detailed oriented and strong organizational skills

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Self-starter and extremely diligent

  • Highly motivated to learn new systems, applications and processes

  • Excellent organizational and people skills

  • Extensive of accounting, finance, or tax experience with at least bachelor’s degree in either field of study

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Santa Ana office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in California is $100,000 to $142,250. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
