The Deutsche Bank Chief Strategy Office drives the bank’s innovation strategy, thought leadership, technology partnerships, and investments. The team enables the bank to accelerate and drive business led innovation, and to deliver revenue growth and operational efficiencies for all bank. You will be joining the Innovation Engineering function within the Chief strategy Office in the role of Senior Data Scientist based in Dublin, Ireland.

The Innovation Engineering team in Dublin constitutes the bank’s AI centre of excellence. Key objectives of the team include the development and delivery of production quality AI products, creation of an AI ecosystem to support the trustworthy development of AI solutions, and training & education of AI practitioners and business users across the bank.

This role is critical to ensure the successful delivery of data science and AI solutions to the bank, encompassing AI technology strategy, full product development lifecycle in adherence to AI development best practices and enterprise architecture principles. In addition to adoption of best practices and architecture principles, you will be required to contribute to advancing these agendas in the bank. You will partner with senior stakeholders, in both business and technology, to drive the delivery of a prioritized innovation portfolio.

Your key responsibilities

• Leading and inspiring a team of data scientists and engineers to deliver the highest quality innovative solutions
• Contributing and influencing strategic direction of AI engineering and governance for senior leadership using informal and formal communication
• Proving the desirability, viability, and feasibility of innovation ideas through well designed experimentation
• Enabling Innovation in the Cloud – working with Innovation engineering and intra-bank partners to create an innovation environment with access to the latest cloud services and high-performance computation capability
• Setting a standard for data and AI engineering execution and delivery in line with the bank’s architecture principles and strategic technology selection
• Thought leadership for the Bank’s AI/ML agenda

Your skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), advanced degree preferred, in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics)
• Applied knowledge of Python, data science tools (pandas, scikit-learn, tensorflow) and (Big) Data tools such as SQL, Hadoop ecosystem, PySpark
• Knowledge of Data science and machine-learning methods and models, for structured and unstructured data and DevOps best practices (git, CI/CD, test-driven development)
• Experience in guiding technical teams and working with Agile/Scrum delivery teams
• Skilled in communicating with and influencing senior stakeholders to ensure the correct outcome for the bank through adoption of industry best practices
• Applied knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and in particular data engineering / data science tools such as Vertex AI, BigQuery or DataProc, Natural Language Processing, Docker & Kubernetes) and API (Application Programming Interface) design would be an advantage
