Role Description
- The Operations Lead/Manager is typically responsible for handling one or more Banking Processing functions. The candidate should have good team management skills and should have exposure to banking applications and various workflows in the financial domain. The Lead may perform regular banking related operations functions. Being the lead of one or multiple processing areas, the position would have oversight and control of Key Performance Indicators, Risk Indicators and managing internal Service level agreements.
- They have expertise or deeper understanding of process, product and/or the business and play a key role in facilitating communication between functional teams, sharing knowledge and good practice. They lead and foster a dynamic team, often providing resource strategy inputs and focus on process and performance efficiency and remain as the first or second level of escalation point for the processing teams or internal/external customers.
- The Operations Lead proactively identifies, escalates and takes steps to substantially mitigate risk issues within and outside of direct main business area and is also responsible for building, fostering and managing relationships with relevant stakeholders (internal and/or external) and in particular around the more time critical, complex or regulated tasks.The Operations Lead within Germany Cash Ops will take responsibility for the production of timely and accurate processing of customer requests and transaction processing wherever required and providing support to internal and external clients as appropriate.

Your key responsibilities
- This is German language role, hence German Language Capability is must.
- Responsible for ensuring timely, complete and accurate processing of transactions (including performing all relevant controls) within own area of responsibility
- Applies Business strategies and objectives across product and business lines within all internal and external policies/guidelines and requirements of the regulators and to agreed SLAs, KRIs and/or KPIs
- Based on need and where appropriate, builds and maintains relationships with front office clients to provide a point of contact within the GCO functional team for time critical, complex or regulated tasks in particular
- Informs product / function development to ensure a superior offering in the face of changing client needs and market trends
- Ensures the escalation of operational, regulatory and other risks to line manager and functional leads as appropriate; contributes to the development and implementation of mitigation or control solutions
- Informs the design and implementation of strategies to ensure continuous process improvement
- Undertakes periodic reviews of the efficiency and effectiveness of operational processes within own area of responsibility to identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve efficiency and performance
- Actively supports the GCO strategy, plans and values, contributing to the achievement of a high performance culture. Personally contributes in an environment where process control and people development is of utmost importance.
- Takes ownership for own career management, seeking opportunities for continuous development of personal capability and improved performance contribution.
- Acts as a role model for the team and new joiners, providing help and support to facilitate early integration and assimilation of their new environment
- Supports tough people decisions to ensure people performance is aligned with organisation imperatives and needs. Addresses individual performance issues, where necessary, to drive for high performance
- Takes responsibility for the production for critical timelines and contributes to effective team controls on each product lines and ensure that self and the team adhere to the SLAs and process customer requests as defined in the SOPs, KOPs Desk top procedures.
Your skills and experience
- Mid level exposure to Banking systems, back office/operations functions like static data, system set ups, charge set ups etc.
- Reasonable awareness and exposure to SWIFT messaging specially MT 103 and 202, 202 COV.
- Basic understanding of global Payment functions, Payments investigation would be at an advantage.
- Good analytical skills, conflict management skills, customer/stake hodler management etc.
- Excellent communication skills both in English and German language with minimum B2.2 grades both in written and verbal language skills.
- Experience in German process tranisitons, conducting and managing KT sessions would be preferred.
- Ability to work in virtual teams and in a matrix organizations
- Ability to work in fast paced environment, keep pace with technical innovation and maintain a broad understanding of the Banking operational areas.
People Management
- Be the Team lead/Manager for the team and provide direction, support and guidance to direct reports and functional teams within own area of responsibility to create and foster an environment of ownership, commitment and continuous improvement.
- Conduct periodic team engagement activities
- Own and implement people initiatives of the Bank and conduct periodic employee assessment/performance appraisal and document same in the relevant applications.
- Take full ownership of the team and the processes handled by self and the team.
- Work closely with line managers and ensure to cascade down the management’s and banks strategy decisions to the team appropriately and ensure adherence.
Education/ Qualifications
- German Language capabilities with minimum B2.2
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited college/University, preferably with Commerce Back ground
- Minimum 5 years of experience in handling German Banking related processing functions.
