Job Title: Group Audit – Data Scientist

Role Description

  • The Data Scientist provides high quality, meaningful analysis to internal stakeholders, in a timely manner, to address current and future business needs. They leverage the analytical toolkit and research techniques to create value added insights for stakeholders. They typically work under the guidance of Lead Analysts and/or Analytics Managers to deliver analysis in line with stakeholder requirements.
  • Reporting to the Team Lead of Data Analytics team, the Data Scientist will be member of Group Audits Center of Excellence (CoE) for Data Analytics. This CoE is responsible to enable all functions of Group Audit with data analytics services and audit automation solutions. As a newly founded team, the Data Scientist will do pioneer work in projects and help Group Audit to establish innovative and effective processes which will become instrumental for the success of the function.

Your key responsibilities

  • Work with the Data Analytics team in Berlin on automation of regular data delivery for current data analysis project primarily by using SQL, Python.
  • Develop applications for self-service analytics solutions using Python and SQL.
  • Adopt to hybrid and native cloud technologies with OpenShift and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Enhance software engineering principles within the team adopting market’s best practices alongside with DB’s principles and procedures.
  • Enhance existing data-driven solutions regarding data ingest, transformation, reporting and machine learning capabilities.
  • Identify automation opportunities and develop solutions that simplify data delivery processes and make them more efficient with ETL data pipelines.
  • Apply highest quality standards as your solution will become an integral part of audit execution processes.
  • Manage, coordinate and lead projects and deliveries without supervision.

Your skills and experience

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university (or equivalent) in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science etc.) or equivalent work experience ideally in the banking industry.
  • Experience as data engineer or data scientist ideally using Python, SQL and Containerization.
  • Knowledge of data analytics techniques to solve real world problems (i.e. Python pandas, scikit-learn, Jupyter Notebooks).
  • Knowledge of deep and machine learning models (i.e. Prediction, Classification, Natural Language Processing or Large Language Models) and concepts is beneficial
  • Reporting and Visualization (i.e. Tableau or similar) is preferred
  • Interest or existing expertise in payment transactions (i.e. SWIFT ISO Standard 20022) is considered a plus
  • Knowledge of agile methodology (Scrum), relevant tools (Confluence, Jira) and good understanding software engineering principles
  • Innovative, creative, articulate and able to work directly with a broad range of stakeholders
  • With problem solving skills and a data mind-set able to understand complex processes and data structures
