Location- Pune, India

Role Description

The role is the functional Site Reliability Engineering Lead under Core Banking Services domain within Corporate Bank Technology. The individual is responsible for a team of 2 in India.

The role requires a candidate with a strong technical background and experience running an Engineering team bringing dedication across continual service improvement, engineering transformation initiatives, particularly influencing a large number of functional teams in adopting a SRE model.

You will be highly visible to senior stakeholders in the Business, Ops and CIO organisations. You will play a key role developing our workforce strengthening the Engineering Culture and Skills (Early Detection, Automation / Self-Healing), including the influence of key stakeholders surrounding production such as Application Development, Infrastructure and Shared Platforms.

Your key responsibilities

  • As Site Reliability Engineer, you contribute to the overarching implementation and operation of Deutsche Bank's Online Banking platform in the Google Cloud to become a central part of the feature squads based on the paradigm "you built it, you run it."
  • Define Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and enable an end-to-end view of customer satisfaction based on best practices for setting up
  • Service Level Indicators (SLIs) to create effective strategies for maintaining and improving system performance and availability.
  • Collaborate with Business Functional Analysts and Solution Architects to find improvements in the solution design early on, improving the reliability of technical solutions.
  • Consult and guide the squad on the prioritization of reliability improvement and actively deliver them as part of the sprint.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing reliability and resilience patterns like auto-scaling, circuit breakers, bulkheads, rate limiters, retry mechanisms, etc.
  • Actively work on service request fulfillment, incident, and problem management to identify and reduce toil and the MTTR using engineering best practices.
  • Align and contribute to state-of-the-art SRE best practices, e.g., GitOps, Distributed Tracing, Open Telemetry, and Chaos Engineering, with the SRE chapter function.
  • Be a knowledge- and skill multiplicator of your profession by being a Lead of the Site Reliability engineer population
  • Increase the seniority of the overall Site Reliability Engineer chapter by establishing events and procedures and fostering a culture of high standards
  • Lead people in your engineering profession and make them become better each day
  • Works with Delivery Services eg (Fabric, Infrastructure) on improvements to service availability and resilience.

Your skills and experience

  • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience with applications hosted on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform as well as with
  • Docker / Kubernetes in combination with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Terraform, or similar technology.
  • Experience in resilient software development in JAVA and/or JavaScript and the usage of modern CI/CD pipelines, e.g., Bitbucket, Github,and GitHub Actions.
  • Strong experience in setting up observability, monitoring and self-healing solutions for instance with New Relic, Splunk, Google CloudOperations, Lightstep and Ansible.
  • Very good knowledge of security standards (e.g., TLS, OAuth2, KMS, Vault, Admission Controllers, let's encrypt), microservicearchitectures, and experience with API Management with Apigee or WSO2.
  • Proactive attitude and collaborative Team player mindset paired with self-confidence.
  • Not losing your coolness and keeping your eye on details even in stressful situations where time matters.
  • Having a creative approach to solving technical problems.
  • Strong Experience across the Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) and the associated control gates
  • Good understanding of Production technologies / big data tools (Kafka,Elastic Search, Splunk, Clickhouse)
  • Experienced leader, capable of setting & selling strategy and direction
  • Educated to degree level (or overseas equivalent)
