Details of the Division and Team:
This position is primarily responsible for all processes and tasks relating to Global Securities Operations, namely, Custody, Trustee, Fund Accounting, and Loan Operations. In addition, the role requires providing support to other operational divisions in the bank including Cash Operations, Trade Operations, and Treasury Backoffice as needed.
The job holder is responsible for managing staff, addressing training requirements, and ensuring that the products related to the business area are processed efficiently and in a timely manner. The job holder is also responsible for proactively developing and amending processes as needed to ensure compliance with local and regional regulations.
Provide in-depth technical knowledge and expertise on complex policies, processes, products and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on industry best practices, sharing knowledge with a range of internal stakeholders at all levels, both regionally and globally, as appropriate. Represent the Bank by managing strong relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders e.g. industry forums, regulators, third party vendors, market participants and internal divisions such as Technology, Legal, and Product Management. Communicate all changes relating to operational requirements, which impact on relevant processes and controls, ensuring understanding by the relevant target audiences.
The Job Holder is required to proactively identify risks, implement, and monitor necessary controls effectively, and ensure proper governance across all areas, whilst engaging with Bank’s Risk, Compliance, and Group Audit.
Identify, analyze, and review operational readiness for any change-related activities. Define the requirements such as standardization of processes and policies, translate necessary changes into the operational environment, and oversee their effective implementation. Additionally, assess risks and take responsibility for risk mitigation to protect the Bank’s reputation.
The position holder act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in several disciplines, including Asset Services, Securities Settlements, Payments, Branch Operations, Regulatory Reporting, Tax, Reconciliation and Client Management.
In Addition to Custody Operations and Fund Accounting, in-depth knowledge and experience of other Operational Divisions in the branch would be an added advantage.

Your key responsibilities:
Risk and Control
- Ensure Safety and soundness by managing operations in line with the Bank’s Risk and Control Framework.
- Assess whether the control environment appropriately responds emerging risks and whether control enhancements are required post process improvements, regulatory changes or other triggers.
- Maintain Operational Break Resolution: ensure all breaks are reviewed and resolved in a timely basis.
- Ensure adherence to all policies and standards, strengthen and continuously enhance controls.
- Meet regulatory obligations and comply with all compliance and conduct standards.
- Complete all Attestations, conduct Read Across sessions, complete annual KOD reviews.
- Communicate all changes relating to operational requirements, which impact on relevant processes and controls, ensuring understanding by the relevant target audiences.
Daily Operations
- Introduction and maintenance of local guidelines for all Custody / Trustee and Fund services business including making of amendments to guidelines / processes as and when required in compliance with country and regional guidelines.
- Identify, analyze and review operational readiness for any change-related activities. Define the requirements e.g. for the standardization of processes/policies, translating the required changes for an operational environment and overview effective implementation.
- Focus on core Operations activities, reinforce clear accountabilities and simplify the operating model of the Department.
- Checking of end of day reports / activities to ensure all trades are captured, verified and processed.
- Ensuring that all working accounts, suspense accounts and wash accounts are reconciled and balanced daily.
- The preparation of statistics/ MIS reports for regional review
Others
- Assisting Head of Securities Services in the marketing of Custody / Trustee and DFS product offerings.
- Attending marketing and follow up calls with business.
- Handling of Business continuity management in coordination with key staff and the BCM Coordinator for the department
- Liaising with external regulators on behalf of clients (Exchange Control/ SEC) in resolving issues and requests for specific approvals for Custody / Trustee clients
- Providing solutions and value addition via added impetus and solving of issues if any
- Attending Operations Committee meetings and regional meetings in the capacity of Head of Department.
People Management
- Complete performance reviews
- Handling Compensation and promotions for staff
- Handling of Training and development plans for staff
Your skills and experience:
- 15+ years of a track record in securities operations covering custody and fund Accounting and other banking operational areas.
- Sound knowledge of Securities settlements, Corporate Actions, Mandatory, Voluntary, Income Processing and proxy voting
- Strong and well-developed relationship / stakeholder management skills
- Open minded, able to share information, knowledge and expertise with peers & team members.
- Degree/Post-Graduate/Master’s Degree in the relevant field and/or Professional Accounting qualification such ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
