Location: Mumbai, India

Role Description

Tax representation, compliance and advisory pertaining to Indirect Taxes in India.

Team / division overview :

  • Tax Senior Analyst role is based out of Deutsche Bank AG Mumbai branch, India and will report into Head of Tax Deutsche Bank AG Group India.
  • Group Tax India is responsible for managing representation, litigation and advisory activities for DB Group entities in India. We equip our stakeholders with understanding of the tax landscape, timely update on changes in tax laws and policies in India a and help them make informed decisions.
  • The Tax Senior Analyst will work closely with colleagues across functions from Finance, Operations, HR, Business in India as well cross border.

Your key responsibilities :

As a Tax Senior Analyst your key responsibility comprises of representation, tax compliance & advisory:

  • Representations: While the 1st LOD functions will be mainly responsible to explain the data to authorities, that is reported by the 1st LOD function. The responsibilities of this part of the role include:
  • Liaison with Revenue Authorities for closure of entity level Audits conducted by Revenue Authorities.
  • Ensuring queries raised by Revenue Authorities are responded to in a timely and effective manner .
  • Timely updating Management on the developments in audits / queries by Revenue Authorities.
  • Timely highlighting of risks and discussing the possible solutions and taking action in agreement with Management.
  • Monitoring the external advisors engaged for providing support in representation before the authorities at various level.
  • Tax Compliance: Whilst tax compliance, including tax payments, tax return preparation and other filing obligations, remains the responsibility of Business Operations, Finance Tax Operations , Accounts Payable etc, the responsibilities of this part of the role include:
  • Timely advising on change in tax laws /compliance requirements.
  • Working with various stakeholders to facilitate tax compliance for DB Group in India.
  • Periodic reviewing the monthly tax returns/annual tax returns, following up issues arising from internal / external review of tax returns and ensuring appropriate action taken.
  • Timely updating of Management and timely escalating the matters resulting in risk, discussing the possible solutions and taking action in agreement with leadership.
  • Monitoring all filing obligations of the Group’s local Indian entities.
  • Tax Reporting: Whilst tax reporting will remain the responsibility of Business Operations, Finance Tax Operations, Accounts Payable etc, this part of the role include:
  • Updating Tax Matter Schedule (TMS) on timely basis.
  • Updating Bi-monthly and Quarterly reports on timely basis.
  • Reviewing and monitoring provisions and contingent liabilities pertaining to indirect tax present and potential exposures.

Your skills and experience

  • Strong team player, with proven ability to work in a global team and drive results both collaboratively and independently.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with ability to influence a wide range of decision-makers.
  • Chartered Accountant with 6 to 8 years post qualification experience in Indirect Taxation.
  • Business fluent in written and spoken English, German language skills helpful but not mandatory
  • Very good Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint and especially Excel)
