Division Overview
- Deutsche Bank (the “Bank”) has established the Controls Testing & Assurance department (“CT&A”) that performs independent Assurance for and on behalf of the Bank’s Compliance and Anti Financial Crime (C&AFC) and Operational Risk (OR) functions, providing risk-based “check and challenge” on behalf of Risk-type Heads.
- Independent “check and challenge” of 1 LOD processes/adequacy of controls/1LOD Testing is performed by formal independent testing, through an annual programme of Risk Oversight Reviews, with coverage focusing on how effectively specified C&AFC and OR risk-types and related controls/processes are managed by 1LOD Business Line and Infrastructure functions (‘1LOD’).
- CT&A’s Data Analytics (DA) team is based out of India and provides DA support to testing teams across all regions.
Role Description
- We are looking for a highly strategic, dynamic, and hands-on Vice President candidate to lead our data analytics and AI innovation efforts within the CT&A function.
- This role will report into Head of CT&A data analytics and is pivotal in embedding analytical capabilities across our global assurance activities, identifying groundbreaking AI use cases, and ultimately enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, and insights derived from our control testing processes.
- The successful candidate will possess strong leadership potential, energy, and drive to connect our data analytics vision directly to the broader strategic objectives of CT&A and the organization. In particular the candidate will be required to understand existing and new data sets relating to the respective C&AFC and OR risks.

Your key responsibilities
- Define and articulate a compelling vision and strategy for data analytics and AI within CT&A, ensuring alignment with the overall organizational risk and control framework.
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and drive to integrate data analytics as a core pillar of the CT&A function, actively connecting initiatives to strategic business outcomes.
- Act as a thought leader, championing the adoption of data-driven insights to elevate control testing and assurance practices globally.
- Drive innovation by exploring and implementing automated and AI-driven analytics methods to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency
- Champion the widespread adoption of data analytics within CT&A, promoting concepts, fostering Data Analytics champions, and leading the development and delivery of comprehensive awareness and training programs.
- Engage effectively and build strong relationships across regional CT&A teams, and senior business stakeholders.
- Communicate complex analytical concepts and findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, fostering a culture of data-informed decision-making.
- Influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data sources, define analytical requirements, and ensure the successful deployment of solutions.
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of AI initiatives within the assurance function.
- Provide hands-on expertise and guidance to a team of data scientists and analyst, overseeing the development and deployment of analytical solutions.
- Support CT&A reviews/ control testing by integrating data analytics methodologies, ensuring comprehensive data coverage and deeper insights into control effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and high performance within the data analytics team and across the broader CT&A function.
- Mentor and develop team members, cultivating a diverse and skilled workforce capable of meeting future analytical demands.
- Measure and report on the impact and value generated by data analytics and AI initiatives, demonstrating ROI to senior leadership.
Your skills and experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative field.
- Progressive experience of around 12 years in data analytics, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role, preferably delivering data analytics within Compliance/Financial Crime, assurance, audit, risk management, or financial services.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and implementing complex data analytics and AI projects.
- Exposure to prompt engineering techniques for leveraging generative AI to solve business problems is highly desirable.
- Deep hands-on experience with data manipulation, automation, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques using tools/languages such as Python, R, SQL, Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, etc.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, risk management principles, and audit methodologies.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and regional teams globally.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, drive innovation, and translate technical concepts into business value.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with cloud-based data analytical platforms – Google Cloud Platform preferred.
