Role Description

  • Our Home Loan Savings teams at Deutsche Bank - Private Bank (TDI) develop and maintain applications for home loan savings business of Private Customers (BHW). Changes are implemented on time to market challenges as well as on development of the application landscape by using Google Cloud technology.
  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux System Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is critical to maintaining, optimizing, and evolving our core Linux-based infrastructure, which underpins many of Deutsche Bank's (BHW) critical applications and services. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Linux and practical experience with ServiceNow for incident, change, and problem management. You will play a key role in ensuring system reliability, security, and performance.

Your key responsibilities

  • System Administration & Engineering:
    • Design, implement, configure, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure Linux server environments (RHEL) both on-premises and in cloud platforms i.e GCP.
    • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for complex Linux-based issues.
    • Manage and automate system patching, updates, and vulnerability remediation.
    • Ensure compliance with internal security standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in on-call rotation and provide advanced technical support for critical incidents.
    • Collaborate with application teams to provide infrastructure support and optimize system performance.
  • ServiceNow Know-How
    • Utilize ServiceNow for effective incident management, problem management, and change management processes.
    • Create, track, and resolve tickets (incidents, requests, problems, changes) within the ServiceNow platform.
    • Understand and adhere to ITIL processes as implemented within Deutsche Bank's ServiceNow environment.
  • Automation & Scripting
    • Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) to automate routine operational tasks, system provisioning, and reporting.
    • Drive initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency through automation.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work effectively within a global team environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams and other stakeholders.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Your skills and experience

  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience as a Linux System Administrator, Engineer, or similar role in an enterprise environment.
  • Expertise in various Linux distributions (RHEL required; SUSE desirable).
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow for Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python are essential).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing, Firewalls).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Desirable Skills and Experience (Bonus Points)

  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP).
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Relevant Linux certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE).
  • Experience in the financial services industry.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
