Role Description

• Our Data Strategy team which is part of DWS Global Technology is looking for a experienced Data Engineer to further develop the data strategy program. This program is a strategic program for DWS, where all of the core data domains of Asset Management are consolidated, harmonized and exposed to the end consumer in a consistent manner.
• Data engineer is a central part of the data strategy who needs to own the backend systems for data management. Responsible for develop to productionize data solutions to meet business goals. Senior data engineer works with business analyst and development team to develop required data solutions using expertise in RDBMS and Cloud based data platform.

Your key responsibilities

• Working with the development team to meet the agreed project delivery goals using agile delivery model.
• End to end ownership from development to production for the given code based artifacts.
• Production of code based assets within the context of agile delivery (helping define and meet epics, stories, acceptance criteria)
• Working with project stakeholders like BA, Architects, delivery leads in understanding and planning of the database related deliveries

• Responsible for the design, development and QA of those assets and outputs
• Ensure compliance to coding guidelines and standards in the area of SQL database objects and contributing for enhancing the same
• Perform review of component integration testing, unit testing and code review
• Working with data architects and supporting data model design.
• Enforcement of NFRs, architectural / development standards and principles
• Working with central DBA teams in monitoring and planning of effective resource utilization of database server

Your skills and experience

• Good understanding of Microsoft SQL server database, 12+ years of experience working in MSSQL Server DB or Relational Databases (RDBMS)
• Experience of working in different data models like Normalized, Star Schema, Data Vault etc
• Experience in writing complex database objects Stored Procedure, functions, triggers.
• Knowledge of different database objects like index, cursor, Store Procedure, functions etc.
• Worked with large databases storing millions of records
• MS SQL Performance tuning experience and understanding DBA activities like disk spaces, file groups.
• Experienced in using of the data model using tools such as Power Designer/ERWIN and enhancing and supporting the same.
• Experience of working in agile using scrum delivery model
• Experience of working in Cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure
• Good to have experience in working in SnowFlake and migrating from RDBMS to SnowFlake.
• Understanding of SnowFlake platform tools such as Snowpipe, Snowpipe streaming, DBT etc.
• Good to have working experience of ETL tools like DBT,
• Good to have data migration experience of migrating on prem databases to Cloud based databases.
