Job Title: Credit Officer, AVP

Location: Mumbai, India

Role Description

  • The Commercial Real Estate (CRE) credit team is tasked with managing the real estate credit risk for Deutsche Bank's Commercial Real Estate Group. Our newly built and expanded CRE India hub will be an integral part of the CRE credit team, with particularly focus on managing all aspects of surveillance and monitoring for all approved transactions retained / on balance sheet.
  • Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) annual credit and rating reviews, monitoring of counterparty and market developments including drawing respective conclusions and make recommendations around impact; also providing ongoing review and monitoring of KRIs (key risk indicators), watchlist commentary and reviews, covenant compliance, valuations developments and impact to ensure adequate and forward looking surveillance and propose rating adjustments as applicable. Outside of ongoing transaction and limit monitoring, the credit officers will also be supporting / coordinating requests from key stakeholders internally and externally (including auditors and regulators).

Your key responsibilities

  • Credit Officer responsible for reviewing, recommending and approving transactions across business units and wide spectrum of products.
  • Undertake accurate and timely credit analysis of counterparties by identifying business and financial risk based on understanding of business model, financial statement analysis, preparing cash flow model/ forecast and peer analysis.
  • Write Rating reports and credit reviews/analysis for recommendation to Senior members for approval
  • Active approval of live trades by understanding the trade dynamics, providing your recommendation and completing the credit write-ups (Addendum) for the same.
  • On-going monitoring & surveillance of assigned international portfolios, including rating changes, market/industry developments, news events, etc. and assessing the impact on credit worthiness of the counterparty, keeping DB’s exposure in mind.
  • Understand the various banking products (including Trade Finance and Derivatives) and credit documentation for the same.
  • Monitoring of limits/exposure: Updating Limit amendments and credit relevant data updates in the credit system. Exposure monitoring and timely clearance of Excess tickets. Timely monitoring of covenants and regular discussion with KCPs.
  • Complete ownership of the Credit portfolio to take informed decisions based on your recommendations
  • Interface directly across with the other stakeholders (business side, Exposure managements, and various ops teams) to ensure complete understanding of DB’s exposure and timely completion of the credit reviews.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects related to portfolio exercises (industry/regional exercise), regulatory developments, sector notes, audit exercises and work out various business strategies.
  • Liaise with clients, interface directly with front office staff and other CRM units on credit approvals, credit requirements and relationship matters
  • Ensure compliance with relevant and applicable local and global regulatory and policy requirements
  • Maintain DB’s high underwriting standards and drive resolution with business units and key stakeholders.

Your skills and experience

  • Educational qualification (preferable): Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Finance, MBA, CA
  • 5-7+ years of credit analysis experience, with experience in non-investment grade lending
  • Analytical skills, including cash flow modelling / forecasting and understanding of derivative structures
  • Ability to work independently under time pressure and focus on multiple reviews/ transactions at once
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
