The team you would be joining is part of the Banking & Lending domain within Private Bank and is developing a loan origination platform primarily serving Wealth Management locations globally - High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth Individuals client segments. It consists of approximately 90 colleagues worldwide, with 70 based in Bucharest.
Responsibilities:
This dual role requires both strong leadership and deep technical expertise.
As Chapter Area Lead, you will:
- Be part of the global leadership team for Chapter Area Leads, ensuring alignment of the local organization with global professional practices and strategies.
- Act as the legal manager for a team of engineering professionals within the TDI Private Bank division in Bucharest.
- Lead, manage, and inspire a chapter of senior engineers and Chapter Leads (Requirements Engineers, Software Developers, QA\QAA Engineers), fostering their professional growth and career development.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and goal-setting sessions.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and performance-oriented team culture that values collaboration and innovation.
- Act as a servant leader, removing impediments and empowering your team to deliver high-quality software.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architects, and other Chapter Leads to ensure alignment on product vision and technical roadmaps.
- Effectively communicate technical concepts, project status, and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
As Lead Engineer, you will:
- Work hands-on as a Senior Engineer in a global environment with distributed delivery teams, developing new components and maintaining existing ones – mainly backend services.
- Partner with key internal stakeholders to translate bank strategy into objectives and implementation plans.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on the architecture, design, and implementation of software applications using Java, Spring, React, Oracle, and Cloud technologies.
- Champion software engineering best practices, including code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, and application lifecycle management.
- Support and enforce automated unit/integration testing as a standard.
- Collaborate with other teams to build and integrate systems.
- Stay current with industry trends and drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
Skills:
- Senior backend development role with more than 10 years of experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in leadership of technical teams and people management - including coaching, mentoring, and performance management of engineers.
- Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, etc.).
- Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle).
- Hands-on experience with designing and implementing microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP) and experience in deploying and managing applications in the cloud.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using modern tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications using containers (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm charts).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, strong independence, and initiative.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English (Business fluency is mandatory).
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent).
Nice-to-Have:
- Hands-on experience with Angular or React.
- Shell scripting experience.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
