The Junior Business Functional Analyst is an essential role in the development of software solutions. He/she works closely with the Business Analyst and/or Product Owner and with the development team in the Scrum methodology. He/she is responsible of the consistency, good quality and right granularity of the product backlog and ensuring appropriate functional details are captured, shared, understood.
He/she provides guidance to the business stakeholders on the usage of the systems and counsels on whether enhancements are needed to fulfill new requirements.
Responsibilities:
Translate product vision and banking business requirements (client journeys, transactional and risk systems) into clear, value‑driven functional specifications aligned with regulatory and control expectations.
Gather, analyze, and manage functional requirements in close collaboration with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architecture, and Delivery teams within an agile/Scrum environment.
Define, refine, and prioritize user stories, acceptance criteria, and change requests with development teams to ensure timely, compliant, and high‑quality delivery.
Support solution design by assessing functional impacts, dependencies, interfaces, risks, and non‑functional requirements relevant to banking platforms and transactional systems.
Act as a functional subject‑matter expert, supporting testing activities, issue resolution, data analysis, and continuous improvement of delivery processes within cross‑functional teams.
Skills:
Degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field, experience in a Functional Analyst role; experience in banking or financial services is highly desirable.
Full professional fluency in English, and Dutch or French speaker.
Strong analytical, technical, and architectural mindset, with the ability to simplify complex systems, processes, and requirements into clear and actionable solutions.
Proven experience working closely with Product Owners and stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum framework, including requirements elicitation, solution conceptualization, and prioritization; able to work effectively in an international and regulated environment.
Solid technical understanding of enterprise systems, including interactive and batch applications, web services, middleware, logging and monitoring principles, cloud computing, and ETL process design.
Self‑driven, organized, and collaborative professional, able to manage complexity, work autonomously, and contribute effectively within multicultural, virtual, and matrix‑based global teams.
