Details of the Division and Team:

The Chief Risk Office function has Group-wide responsibility for the management and control of all credit, market, operational, enterprise and liquidity risks and has the responsibility of continual development of methods for risk measurement, frameworks and creating a bank wide strong risk culture. Valuation Risk Management (VRM), part of Market and Valuation Risk Management (MVRM), operates as an independent second line of defence. The VRM APAC team ensures the integrity, accuracy, and governance of valuations across the Bank’s trading and investment portfolios, while acting as an internal advisor and a centre of excellence for valuation matters.

The successful applicant will be up to a Vice-President Level and will be part of the Valuation Control team overseeing the Global Financing and Credit Trading (GFCT) business where you will gain broad market and technical exposure to bonds, loans, derivatives, and securitized products across the region.

Your role will focus on strengthening valuation governance and developing robust valuation approaches for complex, non-observable instruments. You will also be involved in the Independent Price Verification and Prudent Valuation process performed in the global team.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of the key valuation risk areas within credit portfolios. Understand the nature and risks of transactions, their key valuation drivers and establish a valuation risk monitoring framework.
  • Reviewing daily and monthly Independent Price Verification results; Investigating discrepancies to ensure defensible valuation conclusions
  • Develop and refine approaches for valuing distressed, structured, and bespoke transactions using credit fundamental modeling and the Bank's internal pricing libraries
  • Assess valuation of private equity investments, private credit, loans, and structured transactions, where observable market data is limited
  • Apply fundamental credit and equity analysis, benchmarking, and proxy methodologies to derive robust valuations
  • Approving New trades, making Day1 revenue recognition decisions and oversight Quarterly Fair Value Levelling and Prudent Valuation processes and reporting
  • Enhancing and developing fair value and prudential valuation methodologies
  • Define modelling requirements, understand model limitations, assessing key valuation risks and posting appropriate fair valuation adjustments
  • Partner closely with Front Office, Market Risk, Finance, and senior stakeholders to challenge and validate valuations, ensuring transparency and robustness of valuation practices

Your skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in in valuation control, product control, or pricing/valuation roles within an investment bank, risk function, or buy-side firm, with a focus on private credit, private equity, or illiquid products
  • Strong knowledge of private market including private equity, private credit and illiquid bespoke transactions.
  • Solid experience across credit products (bonds, CDS, loans) and familiarity with cross-asset valuation concepts
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Highly motivated candidate with proven ability to operate in a judgement-heavy environment, particularly in valuation of illiquid and complex assets
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence to challenge Front Office and articulate valuation recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg with programming skills (Python/VBA)
  • Relevant professional qualifications (CFA, FRM, ACA/ACCA, MSc Finance or equivalent)
