This role represents a highly engaging and strategic opportunity within the Transaction Monitoring and Data Controls domain for a Business Functional Analyst (BFA). As a Business Functional Analyst, you are responsible for leading the end-to-end analysis phase of initiatives, with a strong focus on designing optimal target-state business processes. This includes extending beyond your immediate area of ownership to ensure front-to-back alignment across the entire value chain, thereby supporting a cohesive and efficient operating model.

You will work in close partnership with the Product Owner to ensure that the Product Backlog remains aligned with the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and overall Product Vision. A key responsibility is maintaining the backlog with the right level of granularity and quality, ensuring that it is structured, actionable, and delivery-ready.

In collaboration with the development team (DEV & QA), you will ensure that all functional requirements are clearly captured, documented, and thoroughly understood.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead the elicitation, analysis, and management of functional requirements in close collaboration with Business Analysts, architects, and delivery leads, adopting an iterative and agile approach
  • Partner with Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and technical teams (architects, developers) to identify, define, and shape optimal solution designs
  • Support the design and conceptualization of business solution options, clearly articulating impacts, dependencies, and risks
  • Create, refine, and maintain high-quality user stories, including well-defined Acceptance Criteria, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Serve as the key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring requirements are well understood, communicated, and executed
  • Support testing activities, ensuring that delivered functionality meets defined requirements and quality standards

Your skills and experience

  • Experience in the Payments domain, with strong knowledge of: High Value, Low Value, and Instant Payment schemes, SWIFT messaging (MT/MX) and ISO 20022 standards, Local clearing formats and payment infrastructures
  • Prior experience in Transaction Monitoring / Surveillance is an advantage
  • Proven track record of leading projects to successful delivery, including in management or leadership roles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret complex requirements
  • Experience in solution definition, conceptualization, and simplifying complex architectures
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to drive consensus and outcomes
  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs
