Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and analytical Associate Trader to join our CMO Derivatives trading desk. The role provides hands-on exposure to mortgage derivatives markets, trade execution, relative value analysis, risk management, and desk strategy development. The candidate will work closely with senior traders to support daily trading activities and contribute to idea generation and customer engagement.

What You’ll Do

  • Support trade execution, risk management, P&L reporting for the CMO Derivatives desk.
  • Analyze market trends, prepayment dynamics, customers flows and relative value opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain trading tools, analytics, and process automation using Python and Excel/VBA.
  • Partner with risk, operations, technology, and compliance teams to support efficient desk operations.

Skills You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field with strong academic performance
  • Proficient experience in securitized products, fixed income, or a related analytical role
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with an interest in mortgage markets
  • Familiarity with Python and Excel/VBA
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment
  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimize workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Exposure to Agency MBS, CMOs, CMO Derivatives, CMBS, RMBS, interest rate derivatives, or other securitized products
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Yield Book, Intex or similar fixed-income analytics platform

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York, NY office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York, NY is $140,000-$170,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
