As a Senior Lead Software Engineer with a focus on image pre-processing and machine learning for Optical Character Recognition (OCR), you'll shape the future of Jackpocket, one of the newest products in our portfolio. In this role, you'll dive into the dynamic lottery vertical, driving product innovation and navigating the unique scaling challenges that come with it. You’ll work cross-functionally to drive innovation and deliver new functionalities rapidly. Working within this vertical offers the thrilling opportunity to contribute to a game-changing product in a rapidly growing industry, where your work directly impacts the future of digital lottery experiences.

What you’ll do as a Senior Lead Software Engineer

  • Create and improve image classification models using CNNs.

  • Develop and refine image processing and computer vision algorithms.

  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models using Vertex AI to solve complex problems.

  • Conduct model tuning and optimization to improve model accuracy, efficiency, and robustness for OCR applications.

  • Influence cross-functional teams for solution integration, emphasizing collaborative innovation.

  • Directly engage in code reviews and system design sessions, ensuring architectural integrity and performance standards.

  • Act as a technical expert in our systems, providing hands-on leadership in critical development and deployment tasks.

  • Mentor in ML and software engineering best practices, ensuring high standards in development and deployment.

What you’ll bring

  • Over 9 years of experience in Software Engineering, with 5+ years focused on building and scaling machine learning systems in production, demonstrating expertise in MLOps, advanced ML techniques, and leadership in solving complex, high-impact problems.

  • Skilled in cloud infrastructure, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with vertexAI, and experienced with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and managing scalable services.

  • Proficient in using observability tools such as DataDog and Google Cloud Observability Platform for production monitoring and alerting, and knowledgeable in event-driven messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) with practical, real-world experience.

  • Strong programming skills in Kotlin, Java, and Python, with a solid foundation in image processing and computer vision techniques, including advanced use of OpenCV.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is 156,000.00 USD - 195,000.00 USD, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
