Benefits & Communication Analyst
Why This Role Matters
This position plays a critical role in ensuring employees understand and access their benefits effectively. By managing complex plan administration, resolving escalated issues, and supporting compliance with federal and state regulations, the analyst helps maintain trust and satisfaction among employees while driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Tier III customer service consultant for complex benefits issues requiring specialized knowledge, research, and judgment.
- Track and monitor service levels for escalated issues to ensure timely resolution.
- Perform advanced plan administration activities, including complex calculations (ERP-related) and transactional support for HRIC.
- Leverage technology to improve efficiency in plan administration and continuously seek process improvements.
- Manage day-to-day interactions with carriers and vendors; escalate issues to Plan Managers as needed.
- Assist in drafting and delivering employee communications for new benefits and ongoing education.
- Identify communication and training needs based on Tier III call experience.
- Provide training support for HRIC and other HR staff to enhance benefits knowledge.
- Stay current on applicable laws and regulations; implement legislative changes as directed.
- Support special projects such as open enrollment, research, and compliance initiatives.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
- Experience: 2–3 years in a business/professional role; employee benefits/HR experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer software and electronic technology.
- Core Competencies: Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills; ability to handle complex issues with judgment and discretion.

Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $62,694.00 to USD $107,633.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's workexperience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Education
