Application Analyst – Developer
Job Description:
The practice specialist will oversee the revenue cycle activities associated with services of the assigned clinical area, to maximize reimbursement in a cost-effective manner that complies with federal/state and payer-specific billing requirements. This role also includes responsibilities for system maintenance, light programming, and leveraging scripting skills in Visual Basic and Python to support application functionality and performance.
Education/Training:
BS/BA or 5 years related field or equivalent work experience; 3+ years experience with Healthcare billing. Experience with system maintenance and basic programming required. Working knowledge of Visual Basic and Python preferred.
Essential Tasks/Responsibilities:
• Understand the core systems within DHE.
• Perform routine system maintenance tasks including updates, patches, and performance monitoring.
• Develop and maintain scripts or small programs using Visual Basic and Python to automate repetitive tasks and improve workflow efficiency.
• Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues.
• Document system configurations and programming changes for future reference and compliance.
• Design systems control and improve the utilization of resources; develop solutions and/or alternatives as appropriate.
• Function as liaison with PRMO, vendors, and Payers.
• Function as an interface between health information systems; coordinate application modifications that apply to multiple systems.
• Assume project leadership responsibilities for complex health information systems; coordinate application modifications that apply to multiple systems; conduct project meetings.
• Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
• Analyze and interpret project needs.
• Participate in meetings with potential and existing clients to discuss new business opportunities.
• Initiate, establish, and maintain business relationships with all project stakeholders..
• Help coordinate projects and play a key role in the setup of new processes and systems.
• Participate in the development of operating goals and objectives for the team; recommend, implement, and administer operating protocols and procedures to enhance operations.
• Maintain and update knowledge base articles to support Service Desk operations and ensure accurate, timely information is available for issue resolution.
• Schedule priorities and meet deadlines.
• Coordinate testing of upgrades to software applications.
• Plan and teach user-training sessions; make oral and written presentations to project teams and management.
• Ensure strict confidentiality of patient medical and financial records in compliance with federal, state, and DHE guidelines.
• Work closely with the Service Desk to resolve client problems in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist with departmental cross-training of team members.
• Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions.
