We are currently looking for a:

Lead Chemist (m/w/d) for R&D Food & Beverage Europe

Your responsibilities

As Lead Chemist you will provide leadership for global projects in the space of membrane cleaning, digital membrane monitoring innovation and water reuse+recycling / chemical circularity within our industrial division.

You will join the team of the center of excellence for membrane cleaning and water/chemical circularity located in Monheim, Germany which is globally responsible for our UltrasilTM Membrane Cleaning range and Digital membrane solutions. In close collaboration with our customer from the e.g. Dairy, Brew & Beverage, Food we develop solutions in the lab and upscale in our pilot center testing on membrane plants. We work closely with all regions around the globe to bring new innovations to our customers.

In the role you would work with virtual teams over the globe across functions and with external partners like customers, supplier and universities to drive innovations. This includes designing, planning, supervision of local lab team, analyzing and reporting lab and pilot experiments, as well as managing field trials at customer sites especially in EU.

In this role, you will get to:

  • Drive global development of differentiated technologies in the space of membrane cleaning, digital membrane solutions and solutions in the space of chemical and water circularity
  • Develop strong partnerships and relationships with global Food & Beverage team members (Marketing, Sales, Technical Excellence, Regulatory Affairs and Supply Chain) and external partners to deliver an innovation pipeline
  • Manage and lead innovation projects from the start in the lab into the field at customer site
  • Active part in identifying and scoping of projects in partnership with Marketing

Your Profile:

  • Passion and curiosity to solve complex problems in the space of membrane technology
  • Graduate level (M.Sc, PhD) as a chemist, chemical engineer or equivalent degree
  • 3-5 years of professional experiences in chemical cleaning, Food & beverage industries or membrane or water applications/science
  • Preferred experiences in the field of membrane technologies or water and/or chemical circularity
  • Background in Chemistry based R&D work and excellent project management
  • Preferred experience in digital solutions for membrane process optimization
  • Commitment for traveling for customer interaction and field testing

Key skill set:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English is a MUST
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership presence with ability to represent RD&E to senior management, external organizations, and customers.
  • Strong communication skills and a business mindset are key for success in this position
  • Ability to support intellectual property filing and competitive IP review.
  • Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously working with virtual teams with limited supervision
