Junior VAT Analyst

Ecolab is seeking a Junior VAT Analyst to join our European VAT Operations Team based in Budapest.
In this role, you will be primarily responsible for VAT-related reporting and accounting activities across the European region. You’ll contribute to monthly and annual reporting cycles, support forecasting efforts, and collaborate closely with a cross-functional team located in Budapest and throughout Europe.
What You Will Do:
- Prepare and manage VAT compliance reporting across Europe, including VAT, Intrastat, and ESL submissions.
- Ensure timely and accurate generation, distribution, and retention of all required reports.
- Collaborate with other departments to maintain accuracy in VAT accounting records, including sub-ledger accounts, general ledger balances, and profit & loss statements.
- Assist with VAT account reconciliations.
- Utilize internal and external software tools effectively in daily operations.
- Demonstrate leadership by planning, organizing, and overseeing activities within your area of responsibility.
What are the requirements?
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of an additional European language is a plus
- Familiarity with basic European VAT compliance, reporting, and filing requirements is advantageous
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with Excel macros or VBA is a plus
- Exposure to manufacturing ERP and reporting systems, especially SAP, is considered an asset
