CAD Project Engineer

At Ecolab, you will have the opportunity to apply and further develop your engineering and CAD skills while supporting the design of water treatment systems. As part of a global, multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to high‑quality technical documentation and help deliver sustainable solutions for customers worldwide.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Develop, update, and manage Process Flow Diagrams and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (smart P&ID) based on process and engineering inputs.

  • Create precise and detailed 2D mechanical drawings, layouts, and assembly documentation for water treatment systems and components.

  • Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Process, Electrical & Automation teams, project management and construction team to incorporate multidisciplinary project requirements.

  • Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, project specifications, and applicable norms.

  • Maintain drawing version control, documentation structure, and proper archiving in the company’s data management system (e.g., ACC, SharePoint, or internal databases).

  • Support project engineers during design reviews and contribute to resolving technical inconsistencies.

  • Prepare drawing packages and documentation for procurement, manufacturing, and installation teams.

  • Provide CAD-related support to internal stakeholders and contribute to improving drafting processes and templates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Design, or an equivalent in a related field.

  • 2–5 years of experience in drafting for industrial, chemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, biotech, or manufacturing projects.

  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD or similar).

  • Strong understanding of piping components, instrumentation symbols, and process systems.

  • Ability to interpret engineering documents, specifications, and process information.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality documentation.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary project environment.

  • Proficiency in English strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members. German and/or French is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of applicable codes, tables and standard reference books used for design to the specific discipline.

  • Knowledge of drafting standard for both structural and mechanical design.

  • Travel: may be required

  • Swiss or EU citizenship, or valid work permit for Switzerland
