The Safety Health and Environmental Specialist II (SHE) provide support to site operations to ensure compliance with all federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations. This includes air, water and waste compliance along with worker safety, employee training and SHE conformance via use of quality systems.

The position conducts regular inspections, conducts performance reviews of statistical EH&S data trends to determine risk reduction / avoidance initiatives, and incident investigating and reporting of accidents. This position could also involve interactions with regulatory agencies, emergency response personnel and legal counsel. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.

The key challenge and responsibility of the position is to assist in driving and leading a health and safety culture change by identifying environmental health and safety "gaps" in training, policy and operating practices. Once identified, develop and lead initiatives to strengthen concerns.

What you will do:

  • Ensure site in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety and Security regulations to include OSHA, EPA, DOT, SARA, and ISRA regulations
  • Management of hazardous waste, air permitting and wastewater operation related operation the site
  • Management of waste streams including hazardous waste, inspecting hazardous waste storage area and maintaining hazardous waste inventory list
  • Wastewater sampling and report submissions
  • Prepare permit applications
  • Coordinates the maintenance and renewal of environmental permits
  • Emission monitoring and report submission
  • Collaborates with external consultants for impact studies, permit updates, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain compliance documents and legal records.
  • Coordinates waste reduction initiatives aligned with the site’s sustainability objectives.
  • Assist with Risk and change management
  • Represents the site as the environmental expert during internal and external audits.
  • Participates in analysis within the change management system and PSSR (Pre-Start-Up Safety Review).
  • Identifies environmental risks generated by process, equipment, or project changes and proposes control measures.

Minium Qualifications

  • 4yr B.S. Degree in occupational health, safety science, safety engineering or a related science or technical field.
  • 7 years of progressive experience in Environmental, Health and Safety programs. In a Manufacturing Environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification desired: ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM
  • Experience in a chemical/process industrial environment is an advantage.

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range

The pay range for this position is $101,400.00 - $152,100.00. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
