As a junior process engineer, you will be under guidance of more senior engineers and will be involved in the design, optimization and continuous improvement of ultra pure water and industrial wastewater treatment systems.

The role is based in Witterswil, Solothurn, Switzerland and will require some international travelling.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Main responsibility: Support capital projects from concept through commissioning:
- Design, calculate and optimize processes in the fields of ultrapure water and wastewater treatment, including:
- Filtration, activated carbon filters, advanced oxidation processes
- Reverse osmosis, ion exchange, EDI, UF/MF
- Degasification, UV oxidation, TOC reduction
- Chemical treatment, biological treatment, ZLD systems
- Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), mass balances, and equipment specifications for major equipment items
- Generate technical specifications for packaged units, process equipment
- Participate in design reviews and clarifications at the early stages of process and basic engineering works
- Generate process description and logic documents for complex water and wastewater treatment systems
- Participate in HAZOP, FMEA and safety review or assessment
- Work closely within the other engineering department and support project managers on project activities
- Prepare documentation for submission and support project team on plant start-up, performance test, optimization and hand-over.
- Support project team on commissioning activities, performance test, optimization, troubleshooting and hand-over
- Provide training to the end customer operation and maintenance teams
Other responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to the Ecolab operation and maintenance teams (training, guidance)
- Troubleshoot process upsets and contamination events
- Monitor system performance and water quality parameters (e.g., resistivity, TOC, silica, metals)
- Conduct audit of a running system and provide audit report
- Work closely with the innovation teams to develop new processes and digital tools
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or engineering school graduate in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Bachelor’s degree with strong experience in UPW and /or wastewater treatment for semiconductor industry will be considered
- A first experience in process control, water and waste water treatment systems is a plus (semiconductor, pharmaceuticals, biotech, energy preferred)
- Good understanding of water chemistry and treatment processes
- Ability to interpret process data and laboratory results
- Analytical thinking & problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in cross‑functional teams
- Self-initiative and creativity, flexible and able to work under pressure
- Strong communication and technical documentation abilities for collaboration with internal international departments, suppliers and customers
- Mobility and willingness to travel worldwide, including extended trips
- English proficiency for daily business; German, French or other languages are an added value
- Swiss or EU citizenship or a C Swiss resident permit
