Job Description

By joining Emerson as our HR and Labor Relations Partner, you will take a lead role in helping Emerson become a better and more efficient employer across Germany with a high priority on our works council relationships and results.

As a main point of contact and project coordinator for Germany, you will build constructive relationships between management, Human Resources, and our works councils to enable our business to grow while guaranteeing adherence with Germany labor and works council laws.

With the pace of change in technology, you will also have a key role in establishing effective processes across IT, HR, Legal and our works councils to deliver fast and thorough consultation new IT systems, software, and other process changes. Beyond Germany, you will support the ongoing work with our Europe Works Council and efforts from our Global Employment Law team.

This new and exciting role for a well-experienced HR or labor relations professional will be a critical member of the HR organization, will report directly to the VP HR Germany and dotted line report into the VP Global Labor and Employment Law. The role can be based in any of our major Germany locations with a preference for Langenfeld, near Düsseldorf.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: For Germany:

  • Support the VP HR Germany to maintain excellent working relationships with Emerson’s German works councils, management, Human Resources, IT and Legal departments.
  • Create and implement labor relations policies and procedures for Germany.
  • Support management’s discussions with work councils including specifics related to IT, AI, etc.
  • Manage coordination, administration, and follow up of company agreements with our German works councils.
  • Manage and coordinate grievance procedures and dispute resolution processes.
  • Maintain compliance with labor laws, regulations, and contractual obligations for German legal entities.
  • Work the HR leaders across Germany to identify and take advantage of productivity and efficiency opportunities.
  • Support the HR teams across the region on business-relevant projects and initiatives

For Europe:

  • Work alongside the VP Global Labor and Employment Law in leading the Europe Works Council processes.
  • Work with the enterprise data privacy team and the local German Data Protection Officer on privacy related issues.

Who You Are:

You are an experienced professional in Human Resources or Labor Relations, with demonstrated abilities to successfully manage collaborators and lead projects. You are tech savvy with an understanding of the changing landscape of software, systems, and artificial intelligence. You can put in place and take ownership of processes that deliver results from a variety of partners. You are able have broad perspective on building effective relationships across management, functions and works councils while also being able to dive into the details as needed. You are comfortable doing work yourself to get the best results. You are collaborative and can turn business insight, labor relations, and project leadership into an organization-wide capability.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Completed University studies in related field (Educational background in law/work legislation is particularly helpful)
  • Previous experience in an HR related field, handling collective bargaining, grievance procedures, dispute resolution, works councils and labor unions relations.
  • Experience working in a large, multinational, matrixed organization.
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Strong communication and team work skills, in order to keep efficient collaboration with both internal and external partners.
  • Proficiency in both German and English

  • Detailed knowledge or the ability to learn labor laws and regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, organize large volumes of work and carry forward multiple projects at once.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities
